Community Foundation of Orillia and Area The CFOA is a locally run, public foundation that builds and manages permanent endowment funds from charitable donations.

Since 1999 the CFOA has been connecting generous donors to local charities. We currently manage over $3.0 million of Endowment Funds. In 2014 we granted over $115,000 to local charities. Since inception we have granted over $550,000 to more than 100 organizations in our community.

Your next great read just found its voice!

Thanks to a generous grant from the Community Foundation of Orillia and Area, you can now borrow a C-Pen Reader from the Library. Simply glide this small, handheld, easy-to-use device over printed text and it reads the words out loud as you go, helping make books, documents and other printed text accessible.

With multiple language options, adjustable reading speeds, and a headphone jack for private listening, the C-Pen is a practical tool that can provide independence for language learners, those with visual challenges or dyslexia, and anyone who benefits from hearing text read aloud!

The Community Foundation of Orillia and Area is accepting Grant Applications for the following funds:

- The Smart and Caring Communities Fund enables the Foundation to respond to areas of need within our community in response to applications received from local community organizations.

- The Ontario Endowment for Children and Youth in Recreation Fund was established to provide a stable, ongoing source of funding to address the recreational and cultural needs of young people. Some examples of the kinds of programs that will be considered for support are after-school cultural and recreation programs, community sports initiatives, and neighborhood playgrounds

Applications close at 3 pm on Friday, April 17.

👀Have you noticed something different in the Children's Area?

❤️The library received a grant from The Community Foundation of Orillia and Area. With the grant we were able to purchase new programming tables - with wheels! Having tables that easily move around has been incredibly helpful. We have been able to use them for so many different programs since they are easy to rearrange.

We are now accepting applications for our Apprenticeship Bursary.

The Apprenticeship Bursary Fund has been established in order to assist apprenticing students with their day-to-day costs so that they can focus on learning. The fund was set up by family and friends in memory of the late Robert Fletcher.

Eligibility includes apprentices who are entering or has completed at least their first year of HVAC, electrical, or plumbing apprenticeship training in either Orillia’s Lake Country or Muskoka.

☀️ The Summer Pawsitive Packs Are Rolling Out! 🐾

We’re thrilled to announce that our Summer Pawsitive Packs are being distributed once again by the Lighthouse Shelter Outreach Team—bringing comfort, care, and critical supplies to animals living roughly this season.

Each pack is filled with thoughtfully chosen items to help keep pets cool 🧊, hydrated 💧, and protected ☀️, including:
• A pet self-cool mat
• A cooling neckband
• A portable water bowl
• Toys, treats, 💩 bags
• Tick removers
• And a waterproof dry bag to keep everything clean and ready to use

This initiative is made possible through a generous grant from the Community Foundation of Orillia and Area—their continued support is helping us reach animals who need it most.

💙 This marks the second grant we’ve received to provide Pawsitive Packs in partnership with the Lighthouse Shelter in Orillia and Area, a testament to the success and impact of this program.

And we topped up dog and cat food supplies for the van outreach as well. 🍲 🐾
