National Music Camp is a one-of-a-kind overnight summer camp where exceptional music education meets unforgettable summer fun.

Located on the shores of beautiful Lake Couchiching, NMC has inspired young musicians for over 60 years! National Music Camp is Canada’s premium music camp for kids who love music! We offer a premium overnight camp experience, with a variety of fun camp activities (sports, arts & crafts, waterskiing, swimming, rock climbing, ropes course and zipline), great food, and comfortable accommodation PLUS

we have the best faculty & staff to enable campers to have fun and improve their musical craft. Our programs are for kids aged 9-18, from beginner to expert: including band, orchestra, jazz, choir, musical theatre, and guitar.

Evening Faculty Concerts are a nightly highlight at NMC!

Each evening, campers gather to hear performances from our incredible faculty and staff, featuring a wide range of musical styles and traditions. It is a chance to experience world class musicians up close and see the level of artistry their teachers bring both on and off the stage.

These concerts bring the whole camp community together each night to listen, learn, and celebrate music!

The National Music Camp family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Mike Ferguson.

Serving the camp for more than 40 years, Mike was a loyal and dedicated member of both the NMC staff and faculty. He began his journey at NMC in 1978 as a staff member and was hired as a violin faculty member in 1980. Mike spent fifteen summers teaching violin before taking on the role of Assistant Director, a position he held for five seasons. In 2000, he became Music Director, a role he fulfilled with distinction until his retirement from NMC in 2019.

Throughout his career, Mike was deeply committed to excellence in music education and steadfast in upholding the highest standards of professionalism. He believed wholeheartedly in the value of the camp experience and in providing young musicians with a focused, intensive musical education within a fun and supportive environment. His leadership enabled NMC to thrive and consistently brought out the best in campers, staff, and faculty alike.

Mike passed away after a year long illness on February 6, 2026. He will be profoundly missed by his adoring wife, Cheryl; his wonderful children and their spouses and four beloved grandchildren. Mike was predeceased by his son Matthew, who inspired and is the namesake of the Matthew Ferguson Staff Scholarship Fund.

Mike will be sorely missed by all who knew and worked with him and remembered with great affection and gratitude by the entire National Music Camp community.

NMC’s Musical Theatre program brings together singing, dancing, and acting in one high-energy week led by professional faculty in each discipline.

Campers of all experience levels get a chance to dive into original scripts, iconic Broadway tunes, and bold choreography. The week culminates in a show-stopping performance for family and friends, where campers take the spotlight and show just how far they’ve come!
