The Royal Canadian Air Cadet Program is one of Canada's largest youth leadership organizations, with over 57,000 youth participating in more than 1,200 squadrons and corps across the country. Supported by thousands of dedicated military and civilian volunteers, cadets develop confidence, leadership, teamwork, and lifelong friendships through exciting activities including aviation, survival training, fitness, citizenship, marksmanship, music, gliding, and much more.

Cadets meet one evening each week and usually participate in one weekend activity each month, with even more incredible opportunities offered throughout the year and during the summer.

Many former cadets have gone on to become leaders in their communities—and even Canadian astronauts like Chris Hadfield, Marc Garneau, and Jeremy Hansen!

What is Drill?

When you think of Air Cadets, marching in formation is probably one of the first things that comes to mind—but Drill & Ceremonial is so much more than marching.

At 99 Lynx Royal Canadian Air Cadets, drill is one of the core foundations of our program. It teaches cadets valuable life skills that last far beyond the parade square.

Through drill, cadets learn:
✔️ Discipline and self-control
✔️ Confidence and leadership
✔️ Teamwork and communication
✔️ Focus and attention to detail
✔️ Pride in themselves and their squadron

From standing at attention and marching in formation to saluting and ceremonial drill, cadets build their skills step by step throughout their cadet journey.

Across Canada, cadets are taking the leadership, teamwork, discipline, and service they've developed throughout the year and putting those skills into action in their communities. Chief Warrant Officer Henley and I, together with the entire Blackdown staff, are pleased to welcome all cadets to Blackdown Cadet Training Centre this summer.
