Education Student Teachers Association of Lakehead Orillia Supporting Teacher Candidates through advocacy, transparency, and student experience.

ESTA-O is a volunteer-run student club in Lakehead Orillia's Faculty of Education; we are made up of Year 1 and Year 2 students who meet to establish a strong and happy community within the Professional B.Ed Program. Our goal is to support students through Audacity, Advocacy, and Student Experience. We host events for both ESTA-O members and the entire student body to enjoy. See here:

Spooky Week is here, and so is a little friendly competition.
Participate in our spirit days, snap some photos, and start earning points for your cohort! Each cohort can earn 10 points per spirit day, with only one photo submission per cohort per spirit day. Your cohort rep will be responsible for submitting the photo and tracking your points.
This is just the beginning of our cohort points challenge, with more ways to earn points throughout the school year.
Who will come out on top? You’ll have to wait and see what the prize is.
Let the games begin.

It’s time to represent your cohort!
Poster paper is available in the library, and completed posters can be left with the librarians. Posters will be displayed on the library wall, so get creative and make something that represents your cohort!
Please aim to have your poster finished by November 2nd. Most importantly, have fun with it!
Questions? Reach out to your cohort rep or email [email protected]

Lakehead Teacher Candidates (ESTA-O) are excited to partner with the Orillia Public Library to support early literacy in our community!
Through one-on-one reading assessments and activities from the New Family Literacy Collection, we’ll be supporting young readers as they develop their phonics, phonemic awareness, and reading skills.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to support the library’s family literacy programming and put our learning into practice!

Today, we’re sharing our land acknowledgement as a reminder that reconciliation begins with recognizing whose land we learn, work, and gather on.
As future educators, we have a responsibility to continue learning, honour Indigenous voices and perspectives, and put reconciliation into practice in our classrooms and communities.
Reconciliation is an ongoing commitment, not just a single day. 🧡

Today is a day to pause, reflect, and remember that reconciliation is a responsibility we carry every day, not just once a year. 🧡
There’s no in-person classes today, but we can still take time to learn, listen, honour Survivors and their families, and reflect on how we can put reconciliation into practice in our daily lives.
Wear orange, take time to learn, and remember that Every Child Matters.
