Offering help for the present and hope for the future to those in need in Oakville

We provide help for the present and hope for the future for all those living in need in Oakville (Ontario, Canada). Our facilities are a gathering place and hub for providing care for the community. We develop innovative programs and seek partnerships that will meet the needs of those in distress or who are struggling to provide the basic necessities for themselves and their families. Your support will help us provide essential programs and services for people in need, and their children in particular.

A new program is coming to Kerr Street Mission, and we’re so glad to be hosting it.

Welcome Home is a free program for families with young children who have lived in Canada for 5 years or less. Parents and little ones come together on Wednesday mornings to play, meet other families, and settle into a warm, friendly space.

It runs on Wednesdays, November 4, 11, 18 and 25, from 9:30 to 11:00 am in the Youth Room at KSM, 485 Kerr St, Oakville.

We’re offering Welcome Home with our partners at OPCC, EarlyON Child and Family Centre, and United Way Halton & Hamilton. Registration is required and is handled by OPCC at op-cc.ca, by phone at 905-849-6366 ext. 105, or by email at [email protected].

If you know a family who might enjoy this, please send it their way. We look forward to welcoming you and your little ones.

We’re hiring at Kerr Street Mission!

Our Client Engagement Coordinator is a permanent, full-time role for someone who enjoys getting to know people and helping them find the right support.

You would meet new members through intakes, connect them with services at KSM and in the community, mainly through the Neighbour Care Network, and speak up for them with our partners when they need it.

You would also coordinate our Community Volunteer Income Tax Program and offer budgeting support and education, working alongside our wonderful volunteers.

$25.00 to $29.00/hour, reporting to our Family Services Manager.

To apply, email your resume and cover letter to [email protected] by October 23rd, 2026. Early applications are encouraged, and only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted. Thank you to everyone who applies.

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Kerr Street Mission! 🍂

We’re closed today, Monday, October 12, so our staff and volunteers can be with the people they love. We’ll be back with regular hours on Tuesday, October 13.

Today we’re thinking about all of you: the volunteers who show up, the donors who give so generously, and the neighbours who make Oakville feel like home. We couldn’t do this without you. Thank you!

You're invited to "Prime Day with Purpose" this week! If the Prime Big Deal prices have you shopping this week, a few pantry staples in alongside your own order can go an even longer way to your neighbours in need.

Canned tuna, mandarin oranges (and other canned fruits/meat), trail mix, pasta and other non-perishables on Prime Deals do great at keeping our shelves stocked this season!

There are two easy ways to give.

You can bring your extras to 485 Kerr St in Oakville and we will take it from there. Or you can add items to your cart and have them delivered straight to us by entering 485 Kerr St, Oakville, ON as your delivery address at checkout. Putting Kerr Street Mission in the name line helps the box find the right team.

We can only accept unopened, unexpired food items, and every one of them makes a real difference to our KSM community.

Save this post so it is handy at checkout, and share it with a friend who loves a good deal. Thank you for shopping with purpose.

Numbers like these belong to real neighbours, people who worked and raised families and built this community, and who now find themselves stretched thin in ways nobody should have to manage alone.

At Kerr Street Mission, we see these numbers every week, and we see the people behind them too, the ones who still greet us with a smile even on the hard days.

Across Ontario, the number of seniors turning to food banks has doubled since 2019. Right here in Halton, a senior living on Old Age Security often has about $139 left each month once rent and groceries are paid.

September is Hunger Action Month, and it is a good time to look closely at who is going without. This month, we want more of Oakville to know what is happening close to home.

Share this post so more people can see the need, show support and help us serve those in need in our community.

This room is fast becoming a place where kids and youth in our community can land after school, catch their breath, and find people glad to see them walk in. Every piece of it is coming together because of everyone who bid, donated, and showed up for our online and live auctions, with a huge thank you to our generous match donors and sponsors making this all possible too.

We wanted a space where young people could grow into who they are becoming, surrounded by adults who believe in them.

The reveal is coming soon, and we think you are going to love what this room can do for the youth who spend time in it.

Tag someone who believes in investing in young people, or share this post so more of Oakville can see what is coming.

Our online auction wraps up at 8:00pm tonight, and thanks to this community we're sitting at 90.7% of our $10,000 goal. Can you help us reach it? Click the link in our bio (or visit https://www.32auctions.com/KerrStreetauction2026?r=1&t=all)

Over the past two weeks, you've been showing your support and bidding on everything from a golf outing at Glen Abbey to premium seats for the Blue Jays and tickets to watch Toronto Tempo take on the Indiana Fever. Every dollar raised goes directly toward the new youth centre renovation and upgrade, as well as expanding our Leader in Training program to give our youth a place to land and thrive.

If you've had your eye on one of the items, or you just want to help us close that last bit of the gap, now's the time. Take a look at what's still up for grabs and place your bid before the clock runs out at 8pm tonight.

Thank you to everyone who has bid, shared, or cheered us on this week.
