To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Blueberry Fields - Home Suite Hope’s Community Garden - which operates at the Upper Oakville Shopping Centre, hosted a celebration and picnic on Saturday, June 20 from noon to 4 p.m.

HSH staff, Caseworker Dayna Ramawad and Admin Assistant Angela, attended the celebration along with staff from Kerr Street Mission and many volunteers and community members. There was food, free seedling and seed giveaways, an activity table for children, garden tours and gardening advice.

Founded by the late Ken Stockstill, Blueberry Fields is operated at the shopping centre under the watchful eye of volunteer coordinator Ruth Borst and an army of volunteers. Its harvest is delivered to KSM where HSH participants can access it, along with clients of KSM and the general public. The work of Ruth and the volunteers, and the generosity of the shopping centre is truly appreciated as more than ever people, and especially those served by HSH, are depending on food support.

Today to celebrate its 10th Anniversary, Blueberry Fields is hosting a celebration and picnic and HSH is there.

Blueberry Fields is a Community Garden run by volunteers and graciously hosted by the Upper Oakville Shopping Centre. Its harvest is distributed to Home Suite Hope and Kerr Street Mission, for program participants and the general public.

Thanks to a Town of Oakville grant, this picnic celebration aims to raise awareness of the garden in the community, thank volunteers and recruit more volunteers. There is food, free seedling and seed giveaways, an activity table for children, garden tours and gardening advice.

Proud to support our Community Garden and take part in this celebration and we know the garden’s founder, the late Ken Stockstill, would also be very proud.

Thank you to all the volunteers, particularly coordinator Ruth Borst, and the Upper Oakville Shopping Centre for making this garden a welcome reality in our community.

Thank you for joining Home Suite Hope at Country Roads Take Me Home June 14.

While the rain kept us pivoting, one thing never changed: our mission. Together, we gathered to support families on their journey from homelessness to stability, and thanks to your support, that mission continues to move forward.

Whether you danced in the barn, enjoyed the food and entertainment, or simply came out to support HSH, you helped make the day a success. Events like this are about more than fundraising. They are about community, compassion, and coming together to ensure every family has a place to call home.

Home Suite Hope was proud to attend the recent Maternal Mental Health in Action Showcase, hosted by EarlyON and Oakville Parent-Child Centre in recognition of Maternal Mental Health Awareness Day.

The event brought together community organizations dedicated to supporting families during the postpartum journey through accessible programs, resources and connections.

Our team members, Caseworker Haley Weber and Program Coordinator/Content Creator Madison Apold, enjoyed connecting with families and community partners, sharing information about Home Suite Hope’s programs and supports for single-parent families experiencing housing instability. We are grateful to have been part of such an important community initiative focused on maternal mental health, wellness, and strengthening supports for parents and caregivers.
