It is with profound sadness that Melanoma Canada announces the loss of Dr. Mike Connolly, one of our biggest champions.

To say Mike was a supporter puts it mildly. Mike was fiercely passionate about early detection of melanoma and skin cancer and donated much of his time over the years to our Mole Mobile.

We send love to his family, friends, and colleagues and dedicate the remainder of our 2026 Mole Mobile tour to Dr. Mike Connolly.

The Mole Mobile, presented by Neutrogena®, has completed its 2026 tour of Saskatchewan and Manitoba at Walmart Canada stores; bringing free skin cancer screenings directly to communities large and small.

Thanks to certified Canadian dermatologists, the Mole Mobile performed 905 skin checks and detected 135 potential skin cancers.

Have you attended our Mole Mobile yet? Here's what to expect:

• A specially designed vehicle equipped with two private exam rooms.
• A certified Canadian Dermatology Association dermatologist, examining moles or lesions of concern.
• A first come, first serve service - travelling coast-to-coast.
• A simple digital check-in process that sends you a phone notification when it is your turn.

A health card is not required while visiting the Mole Mobile. All that is required is Proof of Residency: A valid ID showing you are a Canadian resident.

When you visit the Mole Mobile, it is also suggested you bring along:

• A Cell Phone: recommended for text-based forms and updates. If you don’t have one, we will help you complete the process in person.
• Hat, Sunglasses, Water, & Sunscreen to stay sun-safe.
• Chair & Umbrella if you plan to wait onsite.

Not only has the Mole Mobile, presented by Neutrogena® , been able to screen over 20,000 people coast-to-coast, we have also gotten sun safety education into thousands of people's hands, Canada-wide.

We could not do it all without our passionate volunteers!

Kamryn volunteered with our Mole Mobile during our Northern Ontario stops, and shared a story about her experience volunteering with us:

"It is no secret that while Northern Ontario offers a beautiful and unique way of life, it also comes with disparities in access to health care. Specialist care - including dermatologic care - is notoriously limited with long wait times. As a medical student with a special interest in dermatology, I recognize the impact that these shortages have on the health of Northern and rural Ontario populations. "
