New computer day for Ryan! πŸ’»πŸ™Œ

Ryan headed out to choose and pick up a new computer, taking care of everything from the shopping to getting it ready to bring home.

Trips like this are about much more than buying something new. They are about choice, independence, confidence and being part of everyday community life.

And judging by that sign beside him… maybe it really is a game changer!

Enjoy the new computer, Ryan!

Michel had the chance to take the wheel of the CharterAbility pontoon boat for a little while, with the captain right by his side. You could tell how much it meant to him to help captain the boat while enjoying the water with his friends.

Sometimes an opportunity to try something new can become the highlight of the whole day. Way to go, Captain Michel!

A big thank you to CharterAbility for creating experiences where people can participate, explore and enjoy our community in meaningful ways.

✈️ The CLO LIVE Flight Crew is ready for takeoff!

Community Living Oakville is excited to be taking part in the United Way Golden Horseshoe Plane Pull again this year on Saturday, September 19.

This year is extra special because our team will be made up primarily of people we support.

United Way Golden Horseshoe has been incredibly supportive in helping us set up our team and making sure everyone has the opportunity to participate. That kind of support is what inclusion looks like in action.

Our CLO LIVE Flight Crew will be pulling the small plane at 11:00 a.m., and we would love to have you there cheering us on!

A few of the flight crew have already been fundraising too, and it has been amazing to see the excitement and effort they are putting into supporting United Way Golden Horseshoe.

You can help by:

* Making a donation
* Coming out to cheer us on
* Enjoying the activities, food trucks and fun happening throughout the event

For us, this is about more than pulling a plane. It is about participation, inclusion and people having the chance to be part of their community in meaningful ways.

We hope to see you there!

Community Living Oakville is proud to be featured in the September issue of Neighbours of Olde Oakville, celebrating more than 70 years of creating opportunity, inclusion and connection in our community.

Featured on the cover and throughout the story is our Executive Director, Alexandra Hoeck-Murray, whose leadership continues to help move Community Living Oakville forward while keeping the dreams, choices and goals of people with developmental disabilities at the heart of what we do.

From our beginnings with two Oakville families in 1954 to supporting more than 300 people today, this feature shares a little of our history, our work and the community partnerships that continue to make inclusion possible.

A big thank you to Neighbours of Olde Oakville, writer Hannah Teichroeb and photographer Brenda Seymour for sharing our story.

A beautiful day on Sixteen Mile Creek with good friends and some pretty great wildlife sightings. πŸ’™πŸ’š

Kathy and her friend Suzanne enjoyed a CharterAbility boat cruise, taking in the scenery and keeping an eye out for some local residents along the way. Kathy even captured these great shots of two swans and a turtle enjoying the creek. πŸ“ΈπŸ¦’πŸ’

Fresh air, friendship and a little adventure makes for a pretty great day.

A fun visit to Crack Pot Studio, made even better by good company. 😊

A little music, a little dancing and a whole lot of fun!

Throughout the summer, our wonderful volunteer Jennifer has been spending time each week at one of our Community Living Oakville homes, joining Ryan for his music therapy program.

This week, Jennifer came in with a mission: teach everyone a TikTok song and dance!

We think the video shows exactly how that went.

Lots of laughs, lots of movement and some pretty great dance moves! Moments like these are also a great reminder of the energy and connection volunteers bring to Community Living Oakville.

Thank you, Jennifer, for sharing your time, enthusiasm and TikTok skills with us! πŸ’šπŸ’™
