⚽ With FIFA 2026 kicking off, CVIMS is excited to follow the journey and share what soccer means to us and our clients.

Soccer has a long-standing tradition of bringing communities together across cultures and nations through a shared love of the game. Whether played on neighborhood fields or on the world stage, the sport inspires connection, teamwork, and a sense of belonging.

Throughout the tournament, we'll be highlighting stories, memories, and perspectives from our clients and community, celebrating the ways soccer unites people both on and off the field.

Dynamo you did it! 💥

For 14 weeks, these all‑women newcomer entrepreneurs showed courage, creativity, and commitment. They balanced families, work, and life while showing up with passion every single week.

Now they step forward as business founders ready to launch their ideas and make an impact in our community. Who will deliver the next unforgettable Dragon’s Den pitch? We will find out next week. The community is watching.

This initiative is proudly supported by the Nanaimo Foundation in collaboration with Community Futures Central Vancouver Island (CFCI).

Join the Nanaimo Local Immigration Partnership (NLIP)!

Are you passionate about building a welcoming and inclusive community? The Nanaimo Local Immigration Partnership (NLIP) is looking for community members who have gone through the newcomer journey to help shape a more connected and inclusive Nanaimo.

By joining the Newcomer Advisory Table, you'll have the opportunity to collaborate with local partners, share your perspectives, support community-driven initiatives, and help improve services and opportunities for newcomers. Together, we can foster cultural awareness, strengthen community connections, and create a place where everyone feels they belong.

Interested in getting involved? We'd love to hear from you!

Building a welcoming community starts with all of us.

We were honoured to attend the opening of The Great Vancouver Island Land Grab, a powerful exhibit developed by the Vancouver Island Local History Society and the Nanaimo Museum.

The exhibit explores the Esquimalt & Nanaimo Railway Land Grant of 1887—often referred to as the "Great Land Grab"—and its lasting impacts on Vancouver Island. Through graphic novel-style storytelling, video, and interactive displays, visitors can learn about this important history and its relevance today.

Featuring artwork by Indigenous artists Eliot White-Hill (Kwulasultun) of Snuneymuxw First Nation, Jordanna George of T'Sou-ke First Nation, and Gord Hill of the Kwakwaka'wakw Nation, the exhibit offers a compelling opportunity for learning, reflection, and dialogue.

The exhibit was launched in partnership with the Vancouver Island Regional Library Harbourfront Branch, which is serving as the first host location this summer. The exhibit offers a valuable opportunity for learning, reflection, and dialogue about the history and ongoing impacts of land ownership and Indigenous-settler relations on Vancouver Island.

Yesterday, we celebrated the graduation of our Digital Literacy students!

A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated digital mentors for supporting senior newcomers as they gained confidence using everyday technology, including smartphones, computers, tablets, email, and online services. Your patience, encouragement, and guidance have helped make the digital world more accessible and empowering.

Special thanks to Natasha for her leadership in spearheading this program. Her commitment and hard work have been instrumental in creating meaningful learning opportunities for our participants.

Congratulations to all of our graduates on this remarkable achievement. We are proud of your dedication, perseverance, and willingness to embrace new skills. We look forward to seeing all that you accomplish next!

🌈 Happy Pride Month as we celebrate the many voices, stories, and experiences that make our communities stronger.

Pride is more than a celebration—it's an opportunity to honour the resilience, achievements, and diversity of 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, while continuing to foster understanding, equity, and belonging for all.

This year, we have joined others in downtown Nanaimo in creating a vibrant window display of inclusion, acceptance, and love. A special thank you to Andrea and her friends (, ) who contributed their creativity and enthusiasm to help make our windows shine!
