Forest Nations Rising 2026 | Part 2 of 2 | When The Ravens Began To Share

"After listening, the ravens learned that sharing about their own unique relationship to the forest connected others to theirs and lifted the wings, songs, and spirits of all things."

Teaching is not held - it’s shared. And in sharing, knowledge grows stronger, deeper, and more connected across Nations and generations.

Forest Nations Rising: From Strong Roots to Global Horizons is a space for that exchange, where experience becomes teaching, and teaching becomes collective strength.

If you’re a First Nations person working in or connected to forestry, land stewardship, or governance, this is your gathering.

Forest Nations Rising 2026 | Part 1 of 2 | When The Ravens Began To Fly

"When the Ravens began to fly, they met each other in the trees to speak of where they were from and the world they were making."

When we come together, our paths, knowledge, and stories shape something bigger than ourselves.

Forest Nations Rising: From Strong Roots to Global Horizons is more than a conference; it’s a space for connection, collaboration, and collective action across Nations, communities, and generations.

If you’re a First Nations person working in or interested in forestry, land stewardship, or governance, this is your gathering.

The First Nations Forestry Council was honoured to attend the Jr. All Native Basketball Tournament in Langley this week. It was powerful to witness so many young Indigenous athletes from across the province come together in one space, representing their communities, supporting one another, and showing such strength, teamwork, and dedication.

Movement is medicine, and the energy throughout the tournament was a meaningful reminder of the importance of community, connection, and wellness.

The Forestry Council’s Workforce team was proud to be there, cheering youth on, sharing information, and connecting with students and families about opportunities in the forest sector, including the Indigenous Forestry Scholarship Program. As an active, land-based, and diverse field, forestry offers many pathways for Indigenous youth interested in futures connected to stewardship of our forests, community, and the land.

We are grateful to have been part of such a strong and uplifting gathering. 🧡🌲🏀

The report outlines recommended changes to forest and land management in British Columbia, including a shift toward land-based, regional approaches, increased transparency, and clearer accountability.

It also identifies the importance of First Nations participation in land-use and forest management decision-making as part of future governance models.

Stories are strongest when they’re shared.

Over the coming months, we’ll be sharing portraits and reflections from First Nations across the province, voices gathered in relationship by our Storyteller while connecting with communities across the province. These posts honour lived experience, leadership, and the many ways First Nations are leading forestry, stewardship, and community on their own terms.

This series is about respect, visibility, and creating space for individual First Nations peoples to speak for themselves.
