MGSAR & THE WALK FOR ALZHEIMER'S

MGSAR proudly took part in the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s at Middle Island in Miramichi on Sunday, May 31. The event brought community members together in a spirit of compassion and solidarity, and it offered our team a meaningful way to show support for Alzheimer’s New Brunswick.

Throughout the walk, MGSAR volunteers connected with participants, answered questions, and highlighted the importance of Project LifeSaver—our program designed to help protect vulnerable individuals who may wander due to cognitive conditions such as Alzheimer’s.

The day was filled with warm conversations, shared purpose, and a strong sense of community engagement. By participating, we not only raised awareness for an important cause but also strengthened relationships with families, caregivers, and local partners who play a vital role in community safety.

It was a valuable opportunity to demonstrate MGSAR’s ongoing commitment to serving and supporting the people of Miramichi.

COMMAND POST, THIS IS TEAM BRAVO.

MGSAR members spent the evening sharpening their radio communication skills through focused, hands‑on practice. Clear, calm, and accurate radio work is essential during real search operations, and today’s training gave volunteers the chance to strengthen those fundamentals.

Teams rehearsed call‑ins, status updates, message relays, and proper radio etiquette while moving through realistic field scenarios. Every member had the opportunity to transmit, receive, and troubleshoot communications under pressure.

By reinforcing these core skills, MGSAR ensures its teams stay coordinated, informed, and ready to respond effectively when every second counts.

MGSAR MAKES GPS TRAINING EASY

Saturday May 9, MGSAR made GPS training clear, practical, and confidence‑building by immersing members in hands‑on, real‑life scenarios. Today’s session combined GPS navigation with essential radio communications, giving volunteers the chance to practice the tools they rely on during actual search operations.

Participants worked through realistic field challenges—marking waypoints, tracking routes, coordinating movements, and relaying updates over the radio with accuracy and professionalism. Instructors emphasized how GPS data and clear communication work together to keep teams safe, efficient, and aligned in fast‑moving situations.

By blending technology, teamwork, and situational awareness, the training helped members strengthen the skills that matter most when responding to a call. Every exercise reinforced the importance of staying calm, precise, and connected in the field.

With each session like this, MGSAR continues to build a highly capable team ready to navigate any terrain and communicate effectively when it counts.

Thank you to our instructors: Nathalie, Michel, John and all the participating members.

GOING FROM A TO B

Navigating from point A to point B with only a map and a compass is a skill every search and rescue member must master, and today’s training delivered exactly that. MGSAR members spent the evening sharpening their ability to read terrain, interpret topographic features, and confidently plot a course.

The instructor guided participants through practical exercises that transformed theory into hands‑on experience, building both confidence and precision. By practicing azimuths drawing, map reading, and compass orienting, members strengthened the essential navigation skills that keep teams safe and effective in the field.

Today’s session wasn’t just about tools—it was about developing the calm, methodical mindset required when every decision matters. Another step forward for a team committed to excellence in every search operation.

LOGISTICS TRAINING

On Saturday, May 2, MGSAR members took part in a dedicated Logistics training session — an essential component of our operational readiness. When a search is activated, the Logistics team carries a monumental responsibility. They coordinate resources, manage equipment, track personnel, and ensure that every moving part of the operation runs smoothly.

Their work may happen behind the scenes, but its impact is felt in every successful deployment. Well‑trained Logistics members are absolutely vital to the efficiency, safety, and overall success of any search operation. By strengthening these skills, we reinforce the backbone of MGSAR and ensure that our team is always prepared to respond with professionalism and precision.

Thank you to everyone who participated and continues to invest time in building our operational strength: Michel, Teresa, Steve, Marg, Nathalie, Denise, Reg, Rhodena, Jerry, Vlad, John, and Randy.

Thank you for volunteering.
