Every girl deserves to go to school without worrying about having enough period products.

But for some students, they are simply not affordable.

In Canada, 1 in 6 female highschool students have experienced period poverty. Some have missed school or activities because they didn’t have what they needed.

It may seem like a small need, but to a young girl, it can mean so much.

That’s why we’re including menstrual supplies in our WE Kits.

Because no girl should miss school, or sports because she got her period.

Starting a new school year is exciting. Starting it in a new country, at a new school, is something else entirely.

We partnered with Umoja Operation Compassion Society of BC to put together 30 Wellness Essentials Kits (18 for males, 12 for females) for newcomer teens gearing up for the classroom this fall. Full-sized shampoo, soap, deodorant, the everyday basics that let a student walk in feeling like everyone else on day one.

Surrey is home to so many newcomer families, and it means a lot to help local teens start the year feeling supported instead of worrying about what they don't have.

Grateful for partners like Umoja who show up for these youth every day. Supporting thier whole family with resources, skills and ways to integrate and feel connected.

"A smile is a gift you can give every day.”

Did you know that 1 in 4 people in BC haven’t been to a dentist in the last year? For many, the cost of care is simply too high, which can make basic dental health feel like a difficult struggle rather than a daily habit.

We want to say a huge thank you to for providing these oral hygiene supplies that were so needed for our Wellness Essentials (WE) Kits, making sure a healthy smile is accessible to everyone in our community.

It is truly powerful when local businesses, charities, churches and the city’s food bank team up. That kind of alignment is what keeps a community’s heart beating, especially when tackling issues like period poverty that are so often overlooked.

As of late 2024, the cost of personal care items like pads and tampons has risen by over 6% due to inflation, making it even harder for low-income residents to keep up.

A recent survey found that 25% of menstruating Canadians have had to choose between purchasing menstrual products or other essentials like food and rent in the past year.

Todays donation of helps bridge this exact gap, ensuring that Wellness Essentials aren’t just a luxury, but a guaranteed right for everyone in the Fraser Valley.

We are a local women-led outreach serving vulnerable families and individuals alongside partner organizations. Our work focuses on providing essential hygiene and wellness supplies.

As we prepare for our upcoming summer volunteer assembly day, we are currently seeking ongoing storage space in the Langley / Walnut Grove / Fort Langley area.

▪️We are looking for:
• A warehouse, garage, barn, or shared space

• Room for shelving units and organized storage

• Safe, clean, and accessible environment
