Township of Langley Firefighters Local 4550 extends our thanks to outgoing Mayor Eric Woodward and Councillors Tim Baillie and Rob Rindt for their service and contributions to our community.

Over the past term, Council recognized how far fire department resources had fallen behind the needs of our growing Township. Investments in staffing, facilities, equipment and training began closing that gap, strengthening public safety and supporting the firefighters who serve our community.

That progress matters, and the work must continue. The next term will require sustained investment to address remaining gaps and keep pace with our community’s growing emergency response needs.

We congratulate incoming Jay Lundgren for TOL Mayor and Councillors Lauren Chalus, Steve Ferguson, Cllr Kunst, Cllr Martens, Michael Pratt, Kim Richter, Teresa Townsley and Cllr Whitmarsh.

We look forward to working with the incoming Council to build on this progress and ensure our firefighters have the resources needed to protect the Township safely and effectively.

Township of Langley Firefighters IAFF Local 4550 are proud to endorse Misty Van Popta in Langley–Walnut Grove for the October 24 Provincial Election.

Misty has shown a strong commitment to firefighter health and public safety. She championed Bill M214, the Firefighters’ Health Act, helping turn firefighter advocacy into legislation that received Royal Assent. She has also stood with the fire service in opposing BC Building Code changes that will allow single-exit stairways in residential buildings up to six storeys.

Local 4550 remains non-partisan. This endorsement is about supporting an individual who has listened to firefighters, brought our concerns to the Legislature, and taken action.

Political action matters. Results matter.

IAFF Local 4550 proudly endorses Misty Van Popta.
