I grew up in BC and Manitoba never once questioned my mother’s income or my father’s!! It was never a discussion. We never once discussed how my parents voted or for who. We ate homemade meals consisting of meat, potatoes, and vegetables. We never touched anything that did not belong to us. We never opened a refrigerator at anyone’s house unless asked to do so. We were taught to respect other people’s property. And we were rewarded for acting properly.

We grew up during a time when we mowed lawns, pulled weeds, babysat, helped with all chores. We, by no means, were given everything we wanted. We went outside a lot to play, run with friends, play hide and seek, or went bike riding. We rarely just sat inside.

Bottled water was unheard of, if we wanted water we drank straight from the faucet or hose. If we had a soda, it was in a glass bottle, and we didn’t break the bottle when finished. We saved the bottle for the return money.

We had to tell our parents where we were going, who we were going with, and be home before dark.

You 𝑳𝑬𝑨𝑹𝑵𝑬𝑫 from your parents instead of disrespecting them and treating them as if they knew absolutely nothing. What they said was 𝑳𝑨𝑾 and you did not question it and you had better know it! We watched what we said around our elders and neighbors because we knew if we 𝑫𝑰𝑺𝑹𝑬𝑺𝑷𝑬𝑪𝑻𝑬𝑫 any grown-up, we would get a real good whooping, it wasn’t called abuse, it was called discipline!

We held the doors for others and carried the shopping into the house. We gave up our seat for an older person without being asked.

You didn’t hear swear words on the radio in songs or on TV. “Please and Thank you”, were part of our daily vocabulary!
The world we live in now is just so full of people who hate and disrespect others.

Friends, consider re-posting if you’re thankful for your childhood. I will 𝑵𝑬𝑽𝑬𝑹 𝑭𝑶𝑹𝑮𝑬𝑻 where I came from and only wish children and people nowadays had half the chance at the fun and respect for real life we grew up with! And we were never bored!

Copy and paste (change where YOU grew up). This is the way I grew up & I totally agree!!!✌️

As we think about what today’s Remembrance Day means and the wars presently going on in the world let’s also remember the wars going on in the minds of those with mental health issues and those we have lost. ❤️🎗️

Cultus Lake Golf Club, located on Columbia Valley Road - just minutes from Chilliwack.
The Course is
a hidden gem - beautifully landscaped with majestic tall west coast cedars/evergreens - lots of shade, a welcome benefit on a scorching hot late summer day of our visit. Don’t be misled by the length of the Course, to score well, bring your “A” irons game. Over the course of the past few years, changes/upgrades have been made include new entrance, power carts with GPS, driving range and overall higher level of maintenance lend a vibrant - “happening” feel to the facility. The colourful on-site banners announced, they just hosted the Nick Taylor’s (past Canadian Open Champ) Charity Classic. A fun course to play and visit. We found a fantastic covered area at the Driving Range to have a few drinks and socialize with friends with bar facilities and comfy couches while taking turns at the driving range. All under cover. Our heartfelt thanks to Club Pro Kris Kowalski and the Cultus Lake Golf Club for their support of our fund raising efforts to help Youth in need with mental health challenges (grades 8-12).

When we approached Golf Pro, Wes Driessen and Rivershore Golf Links links a Robert Trent Jones Sr. Design, (1981), they agreed without hesitation to support our fundraising efforts to help our youth from grades 8-12 that are struggling with mental health challenges. Their generosity extended to welcoming us to stay over night at the course, as we had an early tee time the next AM. Rivershore is endowed with dining facilities, members lockers/showers, and generous practice facilities (a driving range, chipping and putting greens - balls for the range are included with green fees). Thanks again Wes, we had a most enjoyable visit.

Scotch Creek/Shuswap Lake - one of our favorite summer spots to visit with our RV within BC. We managed to secure a coveted camp site at the usual fully booked Provincial park - now that it's past Labour Day. Best of all, the Shuswap Lake Golf Club@shuswaplakegolfcourse supported our Campaign to help Youth struggling with mental health. A grateful "THANK YOU" from our youth to Walt Mcllhone, GM and Shuswap Lake Golf Course for your generous support. Your beautifully, maintained course - and a pleasure to play will now be included in our regular golf trips within BC.

Our golfing journey continues through our Home Province of BC. - when we arrived in Kamloops, the
“Tournament Capital of BC”. The Big Horn Golf Club, which weaves through the hillside community of Sun Rivers, supported our Campaign to raise funds to help youth in need (Grades 8-12). Their generous support has boosted our Campaign total to almost $88,000!. What a fun and challenging track to play, and certainly livesup to it’s name - as golfers are welcomed by herds of “big horn mountain sheep” throughout the course. We highly recommend visitors to include Big Horn in their golfing vacation when travelling through the Kamloops area. Thank you from “youth in need” to Kate Weir, Head Professional and Big Horn Golf Club for your caring support.
