We are excited for our upcoming Salish Weavers Gathering and to share the schedule for the two-day immersive cultural gathering bringing together cedar basket weavers and Salish wool weavers for a weekend of learning, sharing and connection. Local Master and Emerging weavers will be demonstrating and teaching various weaving workshops throughout both days.

Friday, November 6 and Saturday, November 7, 2026
10:00 am to 4:00 pm each day
Salishan Place by the River, 23430 Mavis Ave., Fort Langley

Lunch will be provided each day for the facilitators and registered participants.

On behalf of stalew Arts and Cultural Society, we’re honoured to host an exclusive evening with the Ballet BC Annex Dancers, generously sponsored by Onni in collaboration with Ballet BC.

The triple bill features world premieres by Cameron Fraser-Monroe, a Canadian choreographer and member of the Tla’amin First Nation, and Ballet BC company dancer Michael Garcia, plus Out Innerspace’s Last Flower, originally created for Ballet BC in 2024.

We’re grateful to Ballet BC for their outreach and relationship building in bringing the Annex dancers to a stalew audience. Everyone is welcome!

Tickets are available through our website: www.stalew.ca, general admission, first come, first served, and they’ll go fast. Proceeds are by donation and support stalew’s events and programs throughout the year.

A look back at recent workshops with the Kwantlen Weavers Group.

Nadine and Zoe led a two-day workshop exploring foraged plants and natural dyes with wool, while Chris shared techniques for weaving with bulrush.

This was such a beautiful celebration of culture, tradition, community, and connection. From the dancing and regalia to the music and shared moments, it was a special day to be part of.

Every year on September 30th, we wear orange to honour Phyllis Webstad and every child affected by Canada's residential school system.

In 1973, six-year-old Phyllis picked out a shiny orange shirt to wear on her first day at St. Joseph Mission residential school. It was taken from her that same day, and she never got it back.

That one moment became the reason we now wear orange. Not just as a colour, but as a reminder that every child matters, and that the harm caused by residential schools is a truth we carry forward together.

Phyllis has spent decades since sharing her story so others could understand, heal, and remember those who never made it home.

This Orange Shirt Day, we invite our community to learn her story, listen with open hearts, and reflect on the ongoing work of truth and reconciliation.
