“Many things changed in my life as a result of what I learned in student wellbeing sessions, especially through the session on managing conflicts with restorative practices. I decided to use what I learned to help my parents resolve their conflicts.”

16 year old Ngabo* often felt overwhelmed by his challenging family situation, and struggled to concentrate in school, revise his lessons, or even sleep well. It was when he had the opportunity to attend social emotional learning sessions at school that he began to find the courage to help his family move forward. Using the tools he was building, Ngabo proactively guided his parents towards a healthier approach to conflict that is now impacting both their family life and his own ability to thrive.

Students' academic struggles don't always speak to a lack of ability. Often challenges at home, at school, or even within their communities affect their confidence, wellbeing, and ability to fully engage in learning.

For students like Shema, who experienced family conflict that left him feeling isolated and discouraged, social emotional learning sessions provided the support needed to rebuild confidence and navigate life’s challenges with resilience and hope.

Today, Shema is a compassionate young man who dreams of becoming a lawyer and advocate for adolescents affected by family conflict and violence.

Read more about Shema’s story and learn how you can help support more students like him in the months to come 🇷🇼💛

Your gift helps build healthy and vibrant school cultures where compassion, creativity, and courage are sparked, and where young people are equipped with the tools they need to step into a bright future. All donations are DOUBLED until June 7th!

Today, the Wellspring Foundation for Education team gathered at the Kigali Genocide Memorial to commemorate the Genocide against the Tutsi in 1994.

As a community of educators, we took time to remember the innocent lives lost, honor the resilience of survivors, and reflect on the responsibility we all share in building a future rooted in unity, compassion, dignity, and peace.

Learning and reflecting about our history, we renewed our commitment to raising generations that reject any genocide ideology, division and uphold the sanctity of life, embracing empathy, compassion, and reconciliation.
We remember. We unite. We renew.

Meet Shema* — a compassionate student whose journey speaks to the power of knowing your God-given worth and potential.

In recent years, family conflict had left Shema feeling withdrawn and discouraged, making it difficult for him to focus on school. Through social-emotional learning sessions, he slowly rebuilt his confidence, formed healthier relationships, and began believing in his future again.

Today, Shema is supporting others around him despite the challenges he himself has faced; reminding us of how a supportive school environment can help young people grow into the compassionate changemakers our world needs!

Today is International Day of Families! ⭐️

On this important day, we celebrate the impact that healthy families have in the lives of children, and honour the love, care, and intentionality it takes to build home environments where children can thrive.

In our own work with school communities, we continue to invest deeply in parents and families, knowing that healthy homes and healthy schools together lead to real learning and lasting change. So today we join with others around the world in celebrating family, and in amplifying the vital place of families in driving children's wellbeing and education. 💛

Healthy school cultures begin with leaders who create environments where teachers are supported, students feel valued, and learning can truly thrive. This spring, we invite you to join us in making this possible!

Through our upcoming training, the leaders of our 34 partner schools in Rwanda's Bugesera and Rubavu districts will develop the skills to help create vibrant, positive learning environments for the 40,000+ students they serve.

Your one-time or monthly donation will help shape schools where children are empowered to grow academically, emotionally, and socially. And until June 7th, your gift will be DOUBLED for even greater impact!

Our dream at Wellspring is to see a compassionate, creative, and courageous generation equipped to shape a vibrant and peaceful future for their communities and nations. And over the coming months, in partnership with generous donors like you, we’ll be working towards this vision through in-depth leadership training and coaching with the leaders of all 34 schools we serve!

This spring, our goal is to fully fund the training that will equip these leaders to create vibrant, healthy school cultures where every one of the 42,600 students they lead can thrive.

Would you consider giving today to catalyze lasting change for these students as we invest deeply in their leaders? Thanks to a generous donor, every dollar you give before June 7 will be DOUBLED up to $25,000, which = twice the impact! 🎉💛🇷🇼

It's Mental Health Week in Canada, and we're so grateful to join together with others across the country to highlight the importance of connection, belonging, and wellbeing ... wherever we are in the world.

Social emotional learning has become a core part of our work in recent years, because for children and young people to thrive—now and in the future—their wellbeing must be prioritized. As children understand their inherent worth, dignity, and potential, and are equipped with the tools to live into that potential, they build the resilience they need for a bright, healthy future.

Thank you for partnering with us to see a generation flourish and for sharing the belief that mental health and wellbeing matter 💛

When children develop self awareness, resilience, social skills, empathy, and emotional regulation, they are better equipped to stay in school, participate actively in class, collaborate with peers, and persevere through challenges. Social and emotional development strengthens the foundation upon wh...

What a joy to come together for an evening of celebration and impact in Uxbridge, Ontario, last week!

Thanks to everyone who came out to learn about Wellspring's work, to experience (and even participate in!) some beautiful Rwandan dancing, and to enjoy great food, connection, and community. We're so grateful to the generous volunteers who made this night possible, and to our hosts at The Second Wedge Brewing Co. & caterers from Foundry Kitchen & Bar.

And most of all, thanks to all involved for partnering with us in seeing children and youth equipped with the tools they need for a vibrant and peaceful future 💛🇷🇼

What happens when students from different continents have the opportunity to interact and learn together?

Last month, a group of students from Pacific Academy in Canada visited Rwanda as Wellspring's guests—meeting fellow students, learning from each other, and experiencing a new culture together.

In our latest blog post, we reflect on what happens when Canadian and Rwandan students learn side by side, and why these moments of cross-cultural engagement matter.

We were delighted to welcome thirteen Grade 11 and 12 students from Pacific Academy, a school in British Columbia, Canada, who spent two weeks in Rwanda on a practical educational trip facilitated by Wellspring. This was a purposeful opportunity for students to step into a different educational and....
