Social Justice Langley A community program of United Churches of Langley for partnership and advocacy of social justice and outreach

This means reaching out to, and supporting, people marginalized in our community. It means partnering with the community and other organizations to meet immediate needs of food and shelter and safety, to community building and relational journeying, to systems change in areas such as, Indigenous rights and reconciliation, women's rights, racism awareness, LGBTQ+ rights, environmental protection, u

niversal basic income, mental health awareness and support, refugee support, and so much more. This journey is immense and is better done together. Let us partner in this journey to work towards equality, inclusivity, empathy, and community.

Some of the most powerful moments of faith don’t happen in comfort… they happen when we choose to move closer instead of pulling away. Jesus never avoided the broken. He stepped into the mess, the pain, the hard places and brought love right there. 🙏

Maybe today isn’t about having all the answers. Maybe it’s simply about showing up… with grace, with compassion, with a willing heart. If your heart needs a place to rest, I’ve shared devotionals and peaceful worship playlists to help you slow down and reconnect with God. They’re on the link on this page. ❤️

Who can you move toward today instead of away from?

Save this as a reminder for the days it feels easier to walk away.

❤️

Put yourself in the shoes of a neighbour who is experiencing homelessness. You visit our new building at 320 E Hastings and decide to check out our Foot Care program. 👣

Imagine having the chance to sit for the first time all day. Getting out of those uncomfortable wet socks and worn-down shoes. Finally soaking your aching feet in soothing warm water. You smell the calming scent of essential oils...maybe lavender or tea tree oil.

The volunteer who’s helping you gives you a smile and asks your name. Maybe it’s been a while since anyone’s done that. You feel safe to chat. You can be yourself. You don’t feel rushed. You can relax.

When the volunteer dries off your feet with a soft towel, you’re given a thick pair of clean socks to help set you up for the rest of your day.

You feel cared for, heard and seen. 🫶🏼

We’re so close to this becoming a reality for our neighbours in the Downtown Eastside. This spring, we’re moving into our new building and will be expanding our programs, creating new ones, and bringing back old ones like Foot Care!

Will you help us restore dignity, create environments that foster a sense of belonging and provide access to justice?

Make a gift today (link in bio), so we can give the community everything they need and deserve. 🎁

Since the start of 2026, we’ve done seven distributions of clothing and other items for the community. As we’re preparing to do an eighth distribution, we’re looking at our inventory and are in need of some clean and in good condition hoodies, sweaters, sweat pants and gloves.

If you have items you can donate for the community, please drop off requested items at our administrative office at 368 Powell Street. We accept donations of in-kind gifts on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9:30am – 12:00pm and 1:00pm – 3:30pm (closed on statutory holidays).
