“Hello! My name is SARITA! I was rescued from a shelter that was in terrible condition and severely overcrowded, with over 200 dogs under the care of an elderly man who wouldn’t accept help. Sadly, he passed away, leaving the dogs alone, but that allowed several rescuers to step in and save us! 🙏🏼

While still at the shelter, I went into heat, so I was immediately taken and spayed. I was covered in fleas and tested positive for Ehrlichia. But I thank my lucky stars for my rescuers because I have now recovered physically and emotionally! 🥹

I’m a bit shy at first but since being rescued, I have learned to warm up and trust that I am okay! I really enjoy playing with both dogs and people! I am friendly but shy at first, then very sociable once I know I am safe. I can bark here and there when I am playing! 🥎

At my foster house, I enjoy lounging on the couch and being in the yard with the other dogs. I also love toys - especially squeaky toys or ones that make sounds! 🧸

My foster says I have been very good on the leash so far! I will need an adopter who is happy to work with me on my leash manners. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success! I would LOVE to keep learning with you! 💛”

“Hi everyone out there! My name is BENJI! I was found in a pretty sad state on the streets of a small town in Michoacán, Mexico. My rescuer was notified and decided to come see what the situation was. Well it wasn't good! I was paralyzed and dragging my hind legs along the ground, so the skin on my legs was severely injured. 🏥

The rescuer initially thought I had been hit by a car, but upon arriving in Guadalajara and getting some X-rays done, they discovered a bullet lodged in my spine...yikes. This caused me to lose mobility and sensation from the waist down. Even though the vet team started treating my legs as best as they could, there had been a lack of blood flow for too long and so both legs had to be amputated. 😭

I was an absolute CHAMP through all of this, complying without complaint! That's thanks to the strength of my little soul as, despite everything, my rescuer says I am an 'amazingly happy dog who truly embraces life'! Nowadays I'm doing much better - I've started physical therapy and it's recommended that I get a wheelchair as my front legs are taking on some extra strain. 😓

In the meantime, it's also been recommended I get some gentle, soothing massages (hey, I'm not complaining!). I don't need any medication at the moment, but the vet suggested considering joint supplements (chondroprotectants) in the future and continuing with physical therapy. I do wear a diaper for p*e all day long (sometimes I don't use it when I'm out in the yard) and I have no control over my poops, which happen regualarly twice a day. 💩

The cost of a wheelchair isn't cheap - but I would just LOVE to get one down here in Mehicoooo where it's a bit cheaper (hehe) and then I can start learning to use it before I go to my forever home! It costs about 4,400MXN pesos (~$380 CAD), so if you can contribute even just a few bucks I would be SO grateful! 🙏🏼

Now back to me - boy oh boy, there's not a lot I don't love (okay, besides cats)! I love car rides (woooo I love feeling the breeze in my face), toys (all toys, yep all toys), food (especially stealing food from other pups' bowls - this may need to be worked on heheh) and I'm always motivated by a happy voice and some love and attention! I love spending time in the yard and I am super social. 😉

Due to my condition, I am understandably a bit shy initially when I am meeting new hoomans. But in no time I blossom and show my true colours! With other pups I can be cautious (again - I don't have four legs to stand on!) so I do prefer the company of calm doggys. I am incredibly sweet, happy and playful and I genuinely love the company of hoomans and dog friends. Finally, you will find that I make the bestest snuggle buddy (well, almost - I'm currently learning 'manners' because when I get a bit too excited I can give soft, playful nips at your calves - buttttt we're working on that!!). 🤗”

“Hiya! My name is MOKA! I am one of five sisters who were rescued together when we were just tiny puppies. Our mom had already stopped nursing us, and we had started eating softened kibble when a kind rescuer stepped in to help. She agreed to take all five of us into her care while organizing a local spay and neuter campaign, on the condition that both of our parents would also be sterilized to help prevent more unwanted litters. 🥺

Since then, we’ve been growing up together at a shelter in Mexico City. While we’re safe and well cared for, we’re all dreaming of finding families of our own where we can experience everything the world has to offer. My sisters Mae, Maple, and Bambi have already found their forever homes in beautiful BC - maybe I can be next!! 🙏🏼

I’m a very affectionate and playful girl who loves being close to my people. I enjoy cuddles and attention from my trusted humans, exploring my surroundings, and playing with balls and toys. 🎾

After spending almost my entire life in a shelter, the outside world can still feel a little overwhelming. I’m initially shy with new people and dogs and may look to my trusted person for reassurance—or even ask to be carried while I build my confidence! With patience and gentle introductions, I warm up and become incredibly affectionate. 🤗

Once I’m comfortable, my personality really shines. I love playing with my sisters and the resident dogs, and I’m happiest when I’m part of the group. With patience, kindness, and positive reinforcement, I’m sure to blossom into a loving and devoted companion. 💛”

“Hiya! My name is SOL! I was born into a bit of a hoarding situation where an old, kind man was trying to take care of sooo many homeless dogs. I lived with many other dogs, big and small. I was one of many mouths to feed and I wasn’t taken care of very good for the first few years of my life. I’m so grateful wonderful hoomans got me out of there and now I have had the best care ever. I am well sociailized and would love to have a family all to myself. 😄

I am very sweet and calm. I have bursts of playfulness but I’m usually pretty low key. I am a very trustful soul and love socializing with other pups. I reeeeally like cuddling on the couch and climbing into beds where I can lay beside other pups. But I also like to be alone in my bed with my favourite toy. 🎾

I get happy when I hear a happy voice and get tasty treats! I have shown no resource guarding because I now have so many new toys and treats! I’m a thankful lady. 🙏🏼

I am also learning how to enjoy going for walks and playing in the grass with my fellow doggies at the shelter. I’m not a big barker- usually only when I’m playing outside. And I definitely love playing with stuffed animals! 🧸

One thing i need to work on is on leash! You see, the first 5 years of my life I was never taken out for a walk on a leash so now I sorta trot hehe. I’m getting to know my leash and can keep up with proper encouragement and motivation. 🙊

I would just LOVE to get my second chance at life with you! 💛”

“Well hellooo! I was found by my rescuers when I was a small puppy in an area south of Mexico City where abandonment is unfortunately very common. Luckily, I secured a spot in a foster home in Xochimilco where I stayed while waiting for my chance to come to Canada. 🙏🏼

I flew to Canada on August 3rd, but the travel experience was incredibly stressful for me. By the time I arrived, I was overwhelmed by all the changes and unfamiliar surroundings and went into full survival mode. Unfortunately, this led to a fear-based bite incident during my first day in Canada. 🥹

**WCP NOTE: On Al’s first day here, he was outside in the backyard and appeared extremely spooked. His adopter was concerned that he might escape the yard and attempted to grab Al to attach a leash. During this interaction, Al bit the adopter’s hand and arm. The following day we moved Al into an emergency foster home where he was given the space and time he needed to decompress. Since then, Al has shown zero aggression and the bite incident appears to have been fear-based, occurring at a time when Al was highly overwhelmed following his stressful journey and new environment. While we can never dismiss a bite incident, we do not believe that isolated event is representative of Al’s temperament. However, as a precaution, he was assessed by a professional dog trainer on August 24th, who confirmed that the incident was not indicative of his true, sweet temperament.**

Anyways!! Once I moved into foster care, I was finally able to relax, catch up on some much-needed sleep, and start feeling like myself again. And WOW — what a difference a few days made! I can still be nervous in unfamiliar situations but underneath those initial nerves is a very happy, sweet, playful, and gentle personality. 🙊

I love being near my person and love getting attention. I love to play fetch too! I'm a real natural and will happily bring my ball back to you and then lie on my side so I can get pats and maybe even a belly rub. After exercise I am content to hang out in the house, munch on some bones and snooze on the couch. Honestly, being with "my person" is all I really want in life.

I am looking for kind, patient, and confident adopters who understand that I am still figuring out this big, sometimes-scary world. I will be constantly looking at my new adopter for guidance so having someone who can calmly reassure me that new things are safe will be incredibly important. 💛

I've had many new experiences already since being in my foster home and have ACED all of them! I've had a bath and blow dry, been to the pet store, visited my foster grandma at her seniors’ home, gone on lots of car rides (passenger prince, if I do say so myself!), completed a 5k running race with my foster mom, attended a big Ukrainian rally at Sunset Beach, and was one of the VIP attendees at WCP's annual fundraiser event at a local restaurant. 🍻

MY IDEAL HOME/ADOPTER:
* A patient adopter or adopters who are either retired, work from home, or otherwise have lots of time to spend with me
* Someone willing to umbilical train (clip my leash to your waist and move around with me attached) as I am much more confident when I have my leash on and my human is right by my side
* Someone who is calm and confident!
* A fully fenced yard would be a bonus to run around in as I get the zoomies in the morning and love to play fetch with my ball!

I've met dozens of new people - men, women, children and other dogs. I'm cautious at first but willing to take pats from just about anyone as long as they don't move too quickly into my space. I know I am AWESOME and just need the right people! 😉”

“Herro kind humans! I was born into a bit of a hoarding situation where an old, kind man was trying to take care of sooo many homeless dogs. I met my very best doggo friend here, Cleo. She’s older than me and she was my buddy for the first 3 years of my life. She made me feel secure and confident. Rescuers finally found us and took most of us out of the unsafe house, and we are all looking for our furever hooomans. 🥹

I am a very chill gal. Like, sooo calm and sweet. I really like having Cleo or another dog with me. Sometimes I am scared at first in a new situation or person, but I am definitely willing to trust. My rescuer would say I am shy, reserved and sometimes skiddish at first, but now I seek out my hooman and want to cuddle and get petted. And I’ll kiss you too, thankful for your love. 💛

I reeeeally love treats and hanging out with my doggie pals. You’ll usually find me lying beside my pals (most likely Cleo!). I respond best to food and a calm, gentle voice. I’m chill and usually have low energy, but who knows how I will be with my new family! I am only 3 years old, after all. 🙊”

“Hello out there! My name is RAZ! I came to Doremi Dog Rescue (S. Korea) in April 2025 after being rescued from a difficult situation. Before my rescue, I lived without the love and care I deserved for a long time. Thanks to a kind neighbour, I was brought to safety and given a new chance at life! Since arriving at the shelter, I have shown my true gentle and affectionate nature. I am ready to leave my past behind me and find my forever family! 🙏🏼

I am a boy who loves people deeply and feels happiest when I’ve got human company. I am gentle and affectionate with people I trust. I loveeee walks, ride calmly in the car without a crate, and love to run alongside my guardian. I get the zoomies sometimes and love a good run in an open space. I am even a good boy when getting a bath. I am generally a very easy dog to handle and don’t mind being touched, even on my belly. In true husky fashion, though, I don’t like to be touched when I’m super focused on something (or eating food) and may growl or grumble if I’m uncomfortable. 🥴

While I get along with the small dogs at the shelter and am neutral around big dogs, I may prefer to be a solo-dog in my forever household. I am so deserving of all the love and undivided attention of my humans! I am a slow eater and sometimes leave my food and return to munch on it later. I like to have my own space when I eat, so feeding me away from the hustle and bustle of the home is preferred. I sometimes will howl when left alone (again, husky!!), so I may not be well-suited for apartment-living. 🏠

I am looking for a family who can provide regular walks and adventure, moderate exercise (I am a husky, after all!), and plenty of companionship. Think you’re exactly what I’m looking for? Please apply to adopt me! I promise to be the most loyal companion! 💛“

“Hellooo West Coast friends! My name is HUN! I was one of nine siblings found abandoned in the mountains when I was just a 2-month-old puppy and taken to a high-kill city shelter, where I was thankfully rescued just in time from euthanasia. After spending two weeks in a temporary foster home, I moved to the local private shelter, where I’ve been living ever since. Despite my challenging start, they say I have grown into a beautiful and gentle soul, patiently waiting for my forever home! 🏡

I’m a friendly and gentle pup who gets along with everyone, whether it’s a new volunteer or an adult male, without any wariness. I am a super sweet, handsome boy. I enjoy being petted and have an easygoing personality. I may not seem overly affectionate at first, but when I see familiar regular volunteers, I excitedly jump up to show my love! If you are looking for a loyal furry companion to build trust with, I would be a great fit! And surprisingly, the volunteers say that I am probably one of the calmest dogs in terms of car rides despite my limited experience of cars. I am so ready for exciting adventures with my future family! 👯‍♀️

I tend to be more active and playful around familiar people while staying calm in new environments. Same with all doggos, I need an appropriate amount of mental and physical exercise in order to be my best self! I enjoy regular walks with volunteers and have made great progress. I am very comfortable and gentle on a leash! However, I’m not yet familiar with climbing stairs, so I’ll need more experience walking in different environments hehe! 🙊”
