Our thoughts and prayers are with the famlies.

Our hearts are heavy as we learn of the tragic events unfolding at CFB Wainwright in Alberta.

On behalf of everyone at VETS Canada, we extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and fellow service members of those who have lost their lives. To those who have been injured, we wish you strength and healing in the difficult days ahead.

The military is more than a profession. It is a family, built on bonds of trust, sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to one another. When tragedy strikes one part of that family, its impact is felt across the entire Canadian Armed Forces community, including those who have long since hung up their uniforms.

We also recognize the tremendous courage and dedication of the first responders, military personnel, and healthcare professionals working tirelessly in the face of this tragedy.

As we await further details, our thoughts remain with everyone affected, especially the families anxiously waiting for news of their loved ones.

To our military family in Wainwright: Please know that you are not alone. Across this country, an entire community of Veterans, serving members, and Canadians stands with you in grief, compassion, and solidarity.

25 years ago, 2,974 lives and families were changed forever. The attacks profoundly impacted Canada, taking the lives of 24 Canadians and resulting in our 12 year operations in Afghanistan where 158 Canadians made the ultimate sacrifice and thousands were injured as a result of their service.

In the years since, September 11th has formally become Canada’s National Day of Service, and the Provincial Day of Service in the province of Ontario — meant to remember the courage and compassion in the aftermath of 9/11 and rekindle the spirit of kindness and goodwill that unified our country best exhibited by our friends in Gander, Newfoundland.

We will never forget.

Young Canadians who step up to learn leadership, teamwork and service deserve support — not mockery. And those who dedicate their time to mentoring them deserve the same.

This isn't political. It's about supporting people who choose to serve their communities and their country.

Let's outshine the negativity. Share this far and wide and show them that Canadians have their backs.

This September marks 20 years since Operation Medusa, a major Canadian-led NATO offensive in Afghanistan.

The largest Canadian combat operation since the Korean War aimed to clear Taliban insurgents from the Panjwai district of Kandahar Province. More than 1,000 Canadians and over 400 allied soldiers took part in the mission.

Though they successfully pushed the Taliban from the district, it came at a cost.

Twelve Canadian Armed Forces members lost their lives during those two weeks.

The Surrey Fire Fighters’ Charitable Society is proud to support the Canadian Walk for Veterans with a donation toward this year’s event in White Rock.

On September 27, our community will come together at Memorial Park to walk in recognition of the service, sacrifice and contributions of Canada’s veterans.

We’re also proud that the Surrey Fire Fighters Pipes & Drums Band will be onsite performing and helping make this important community event even more special.

We hope to see you there as we walk together in support of those who have served. 🇨🇦

It was an honour to meet and support Scott Casey of the The Rolling Barrage in their tenth year of riding across Canada to raise awareness to end the stigma that surrounds PTSD amongst our Canadian Armed Forces Veterans, RCMP and First Responders.
