Ron Cares Society - Community Care Kit Program

Ron Cares Society - Community Care Kit Program The Ron Cares Society - Community Care Kit Program donates Personal Hygiene Kits for people in need.

My name is Ron Bergen and I am an Accessibility & Inclusion Advocate, personally dealing with a vision-loss disability and mobility challenges. I have recently created the Ron Cares Society, which is a non-profit company that creates and distributes Personal Care Hygiene Kits for local people in need, including those experiencing homelessness, seniors, First Nations, refugees and low-income famili

es. I strive to be an active community member and have served 6 years (2016-2021) on Translink’s Access Transit User Advisory Committee. Plus, I am an Executive Member At Large of Langley Senior’s In Action Society, serving on the Transportation Working Group, and I volunteer with Langley Senior Resources Society. I also served 6+ years on Surrey City’s Measuring Up Committee for Accessibility and Inclusion, before I moved to Langley. I have a strong belief in the power of collaboration towards addressing community issues. My aim is to encourage residents, business owners, and faith communities in the donation of products and distribution support for these much-needed Community Care Kits. The Ron Cares Society supports Health & Wellness one Care Kit at a time!

On May 29, we participated in the Spirit of Reconciliation Walk from the fort in Langley to the longhouse of the Kwantlen First Nation on McMillan Island. We were welcomed into their community to learn about the truths of our shared history and the importance of reconciliation.
Thank you for providing this meaningful opportunity to listen, learn, and better understand how we can work together to build a future of peace, respect, and harmony for generations to come.

On May 28, we had the pleasure of attending the Metro Kids Gala in Langley in support of the incredible programs and services they provide to children and youth throughout our community.
The evening was not only a successful fundraiser for their outreach initiatives, but also an opportunity to hear powerful stories from young people whose lives have been impacted by Metro Kids. It was inspiring to hear from youth who have grown up through the program and are now giving back by mentoring and supporting younger children through activities and the bus transportation program.
It was a wonderful evening spent with both old and new friends, great food, and a shared commitment to helping young people thrive.
A sincere thank you to Metro Kids Society for hosting such a meaningful event. We look forward to seeing the continued positive impact of their work and the many opportunities they create for youth in Langley and beyond.

On May 27, I attended a remembrance gathering and service at Douglas Park recognizing the fifth anniversary of the discovery of the 215 children's remains at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School.
The evening was filled with stories, reflection, and remembrance. It was an opportunity to honour the children, survivors, their families, and Indigenous communities while recognizing the ongoing importance of truth and reconciliation.
As we move forward, we must continue learning from the past and working together to build a future based on understanding, respect, and compassion. A world where all people can live in peace and harmony is a goal we should all strive for.
Every Child Matters. 🧡

On Friday, May 8, 2026, Ron Bergen was invited by the Ministry of Transportation to attend the press release event at the future Willowbrook SkyTrain station site. This marks the final of the eight Surrey-Langley SkyTrain stations to begin construction.
Attendees heard from Premier David Eby, along with Minister of Transportation Mike Farnworth, who spoke about the progress being made on the SkyTrain expansion project. The province reaffirmed its goal of having the line operational by fall 2029.
It was a great opportunity to see the progress firsthand and stand on the exact site where the new station building will soon be constructed.

On Friday, May 8th, 2026, Ron and Paul Crump attended the Rotary Club of Walnut Grove where Ron had the opportunity to present. During the presentation, he expressed gratitude for the Rotary Club’s past collaborations and their continued support in the days ahead. Ron also presented the Rotary Club of Aldergrove with a Certificate of Appreciation and gave a special shoutout to the many members who support Ron Cares in different ways throughout the year.
Although it was an early morning, it was inspiring to experience the positive energy and dedication of the local Rotary Club. Much like Ron Cares, they are committed to reaching out, giving back, and helping build healthier, stronger communities for the future.
