🎉 Community Day 2026 🎉

Waceya President had the honour to join Mayor Nathan Pachal, Council, City staff, community organizations, volunteers, vendors, and residents today to help officially open Community Day on behalf of the Waceya Métis Society.

Community Day is one of Langley City’s LangleyCity Langley City Recreation great events, bringing people together to celebrate everything that makes our community vibrant, welcoming, and strong. From local organizations and businesses to performers, food vendors, families, and volunteers, today was a reminder that community is built through connection.

As Métis people, community has always been at the heart of who we are. We value relationships, supporting one another, sharing knowledge, and creating spaces where everyone feels they belong. It was wonderful to see those same values reflected throughout today’s event.

Maarsii to the City of Langley for the invitation and for continuing to create opportunities that bring our community together. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared a story, visited the booths, and helped make the day such a success.

Waceya Métis Society is proud to be part of the Langley community and we look forward to continuing to build connections, celebrate culture, and support our citizens and neighbours.

Waceya Métis Society was honoured to join Aldergrove Community Secondary School Aldergrove Community Secondary on Thursday as President Wingham sashed eight Métis youth graduates.

Maarsii to Aboriginal Support Workers Mr. Sanderson and Ms. Brooks for inviting our community to be part of this meaningful moment and for the work they do supporting Indigenous students throughout the school year.

Waceya wishes each student success as they take the next step in their journey. We were proud to sash them with a piece of their culture to help ground them, remind them of where they come from, and let them know that their Métis community is always here 🧡 ready to welcome and support them whenever they are ready.

As our graduates move into trades, college, university, the workforce, or wherever life takes them next, we encourage them to stay connected to their culture, community, and the many opportunities ahead of them.

Waceya is continuing to connect with high schools across our district to recognize and celebrate Métis graduates. If your school has Métis students graduating this year, we would love to connect and help make their graduation a little more special.

Congratulations to all the graduates. We are incredibly proud of you and look forward to seeing what comes next in your journey.

Marsii and congratulations, Class of 2026! 🎓
