“I urge then, first of all.. that petitions and prayers… be made for kings and all those in authority, that they may live peaceful and quiet lives.” I Timothy 2:1-2

Prayer is the great comfort to those in need and those who render it unto God. It is the wondrous language of the thankful and the strong song of the victorious. We will never be greater than our prayer life. The depth of our relationship with God will determine the height of our character.

Across MCEC on Sunday

This past Sunday, MCEC staff were present with congregations across our regional church, sharing in worship, learning, celebration and conversation.

Anthony Siegrist preached at Brussels Mennonite Fellowship.

Fanosie Legesse led an intercultural church conversation at Wellesley Mennonite Church.

Marilyn Rudy-Froese led the installation of Maciel Arias Hernandez at Toronto Mennonite New Life Church.

Micah Peters Unrau and members of MCEC's Creation Care Working Group shared at St. Jacobs Mennonite Church.

Each visit offered a different glimpse of God's work among us, while highlighting the relationships and shared mission that unite our congregations.

We're grateful for opportunities to worship, learn, celebrate and journey alongside congregations across MCEC.

On the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we pause to remember the children who never returned home, honour Residential School Survivors and listen again to the truths they have courageously shared.

This year, there is also reason for hope. Research shows that half of Canadians now own an Orange Shirt, a visible sign that millions of people are learning about the experiences of Survivors and the Calls to Action. Awareness alone is not reconciliation, but it is an important step on the journey.

As followers of Jesus, we recognize that reconciliation is more than a single day of remembrance. It is an ongoing commitment to truth-telling, right relationships, justice and healing. We continue to pray for Indigenous communities, for Survivors and their families and for our own willingness to walk humbly together.

May God give us the courage to listen, the grace to learn and the faithfulness to participate in the work of reconciliation every day.

Exciting News for MCEC!

MCEC has received a multi-year grant from the Lyle S. Hallman Foundation to strengthen ministry with youth and young adults across our regional church.

This funding will support a new half-time Regional Minister focused on equipping leaders, strengthening connections between congregations and helping create spaces where youth and young adults can grow as disciples and leaders.

We're grateful for this investment in the next generation and look forward to seeing how God will use this opportunity to strengthen the church for years to come.

Please join us in giving thanks for this partnership and in praying for the ministry that will emerge from it.

Spiritual Lessons of Autumn

As the leaves begin to change, this week's devotional by Kara Carter invites us to reflect on what autumn can teach us about faith, change and trust.

“Perhaps our spiritual practice this autumn is simple: release, discern, receive, and trust.”

Autumn reminds us that not everything is meant to remain the same. Some seasons call us to let go, to grieve what has been and to trust that God is at work even when the future is hidden.

May we have the courage to release what no longer gives life, receive the gifts of a new season and trust the God who makes all things new.

This Is Us!

At Leamington United Mennonite Church on Oak Street, leadership is nurtured through encouragement, affirmation and a shared commitment to God's call.

On September 20, the congregation gathered to celebrate the installation of Lynn and Todd Schlosser, marking a new chapter in their ministry among the community. The service was a reminder that a call to ministry is never lived out alone. It is recognized, affirmed and sustained by a community of faith.

Led by MCEC Leadership Minister Marilyn Rudy-Froese, the installation offered an opportunity for the congregation to express its support for Lynn and Todd while reaffirming its own commitment to participate in the ministry they share together.

As followers of Jesus, we each have gifts to offer. Moments like these invite us to celebrate the ways God calls people to serve and to commit ourselves to encouraging one another in that calling.

Here, we see what it means to be built together - recognizing gifts, affirming leaders and joining together in God's work.
