The first day of June marks the start of National Indigenous History month. This month we honour the rich history, diverse cultures, and experiences of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples in Canada.
At QDC we take this month to reflect on the long lasting impact Indigenous movement, rhythm, and storytelling has had on cultural expression and the art of dance. We recognize and appreciate the significance of Indigenous dance practices as forms of celebration, connection, and spirituality.
Queen’s University is situated on the traditional Anishinaabe (ah-nish-naw-be) and Haudenosaunee (hoodt-en-oh-show-nee) territories. We are grateful to live, learn, and dance on these lands which have been cared for by the Indigenous peoples since time immemorial.
QDC remains committed to fostering respect, learning, and appreciation for Indigenous cultures and perspectives within our community.
