Kingston Frontenac Anti-Violence Coordinating Committee Working together to reduce domestic and sexual violence - www.kfacc.org

The Kingston Frontenac Anti-Violence Coordinating Committee is a group working together at the local level to end domestic and sexual violence. We include agencies providing services for victims of partner abuse and/or sexual violence, their children, their family members, and agencies that work with perpetrators. Some of the sectors represented on our committee are law enforcement and justice, sh

elter and housing, health, and counselling support. KFACC strives to work toward the eradication of violence by promoting individual and community awareness of issues relating to domestic and sexual violence. In addition, we have established, implemented and work together to sustain a coordinated community response to domestic and sexual violence. Our committee and subcommittees problem-solve and develop various projects to help identify gaps in services, create public awareness, offer professional development opportunities for service providers, and create relevant informational and other resources.

It is because of Kuldeep Ahluwalia, her bravery and persistence, that the Supreme Court of Canada issued a landmark decision for survivors of IPV across this country.

The webinar on June 11, 2026, opened with a reflection from Kuldeep Ahluwalia and brought together Kirsten Mercer, Maneesha Mehra, and Emily Murray to explore the history of the case Ahluwalia v. Ahluwalia and what the majority decision means for survivors of IPV. Kuldeep Ahluwalia closed the session by sharing her poetry.

This afternoon, Canada plays its second World Cup game, against Qatar. Win or lose, we know that domestic violence is likely to increase in communities across the country. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, preparation can help. Having a Go Bag is a key part of any safety plan. It can be kept in the trunk, at an office, or with a friend – anywhere it can be grabbed quickly. WSC invites you to visit MakeAGamePlan.ca for safety planning support.
