Daughters for Life Foundation is a registered Canadian charity that offers full scholarships, awards, and fellowships to young women from the Middle East. The Queen's University Chapter strives to raise money and awareness for these causes. The organization was founded by Dr. Abuelaish, a five-time Nobel Peace Prize Nominee, in 2010. Dr. Abuelaish grew up in Gaza, Palestine. He was the first Pales
tinian doctor to work in an Israeli hospital. In January of 2009, the Israeli military shelled his home in Gaza killing three of his daughters - Aya, 13, Mayar, 15, and Bessan, 21. In honor of his daughters love for life and learning, he established Daughters for Life as a means to promote peace within the region. To date, Daughters for Life has empowered nearly 400 young women to continue their education. Our scholarships are open for young women from Palestine, Israel, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Syria. Our scholar studying at various universities in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and India. Our programs are offered to young women in the Middle East from all backgrounds and religions. Our recipients are chosen for their academic achievements, character, and commitment to improving the lives of girls and young women in the Middle East.
