It is the mission of the BGC Kawarthas Foundation (Boys & Girls Clubs of Kawartha Lakes Foundation) to support the aims of the BGC Kawarthas by acquiring the necessary financial resources to meet local youth service needs.

Our Seventh Annual Youth Awards take place on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m., and we wouldn't have been able to do so many incredible ceremonies and celebrate so many youth without our sponsors!

Our deepest thanks to The Butterfly Boutique and Bésfiftyseven two clothing and accessory stores in Fenelon Falls who raised over $3,000 for BGC’s “The Loft” at a successful fashion show and dinner last week. What a great opportunity to introduce our youth drop-in program (located at 30 Colborne St) to a fabulous audience through guest speaker Avalon Loube. Also, last month, the Butterfly Boutique raised $500 at their Thankful Thursday, where 20% of sales for the day would go towards a local charity.

Our friends at Peterborough's Delta Bingo and Gaming will be having a special neon night called Glow Bingo, but that's not all - there will be a photo booth, glow face paint, and a DJ. During this event, everything glows - including the Bingo paper.

Tuesday Night was Celebrity Servers Night, where the local paramedics at Kawartha Lakes Paramedic Service took a night to serve at Boston Pizza and a percentage of the proceeds for the night they chose to send to us. We thank everyone involved, from the restaurant to the paramedics to all who attended!

If you want to do a bit of paid work, we are offering the chance to do some 2 1/2 hour shifts for Peterborough's Delta Bingo & Gaming.

Responsibilities include greeting people, cleaning slot machines and serving snacks. It will be practical experience in a warm, welcoming environment. Shift times vary, but you will be notified. There will be online training, and you will be assisted by someone with experience. You have to be over 18.

Next Tuesday, May 19th, Boston Pizza is having a special Celebrity Server Evening, hosted by the Kawartha Lakes Paramedic Service.

From 6-8 p.m., our local paramedics are going to be the ones serving dinners, and generously, 10% of all food receipts will be donated to us! If you're in the mood to eat out next week, we hope to see you there!

Wednesday was McHappy Day, and we were more than thrilled to have a worker over to volunteer. On this day, a portion of proceeds go towards helping families with sick kids, to be able to provide meals and transportation to keep them on their feet. BGC Kawarthas was honoured to help out again for the yearly event.

On May 28th, a delightful Fenelon Falls store called The Butterfly Boutique will be having a special day, where 20% of all their proceeds will be going towards our Fenelon after school program, The Loft.

This is for a new monthly event they have started known as Thankful Thursdays. The last Thursday of every month, they will be choosing a place to give back to our local community, and we are honoured they chose our new place in Fenelon Falls to support.

They will be open 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
