If you're trying to hire, but the applications just aren’t coming in...

before assuming it’s a lack of interest, it’s worth taking a closer look at what’s happening in the local labour market.

For example:
🔹 How does your wage compare to similar roles in your area?
🔹 Is demand for this position particularly high right now?
🔹 Are the skills required aligned with what job seekers currently have?

These factors can have a significant impact on how your posting performs.

Understanding them can help you adjust your approach - whether that’s refining the role, revisiting compensation, or rethinking how the opportunity is presented.

That’s where labour market information can make a difference.

Instead of guessing, you can make more informed decisions based on real, local data.

If you’re navigating hiring challenges, there are tools and insights available to support you.

International Nurses Day is a chance to say thank you, but it’s also a chance to look at the bigger workforce picture.

Nurses play a critical role in the health and wellbeing of our communities.

But behind that care is a workforce that needs strong pathways, supportive workplaces, training opportunities, and sustainable systems.

When we talk about supporting nurses, we’re also talking about supporting the conditions that help them do their work, grow in their careers, and continue serving their communities.

At WDB, we know workforce development is deeply connected to community wellbeing.

By understanding local labour market needs, career pathways, and the challenges facing essential sectors like health care, we can better support the people and systems our communities rely on.

To all nurses across our communities: thank you for the care, skill, and commitment you bring to your work every day.

Your work matters and so does the workforce support behind it.
