🐾 Meet the Team 🐾
Behind every happy reunion, every late-night message, every flyer posted, every food station checked, and every pet safely reunited with their family, there is a dedicated team of incredible women giving their time, energy, compassion, and expertise. These are the ladies with their feet on the ground search and dropping whatever they are doing to help.
Each and every one of these ladies has played a role in helping the animals we've been involved with. Whether it was offering guidance, supporting owners, checking sightings, setting up equipment, coordinating efforts, or simply being there when it mattered most, their contributions have made a difference.
The work is often unseen, the hours are countless, and the commitment is unwavering—but the impact on both pets and their families is immeasurable.

Thank you, Georgia, Kelly, Jaclyn, Brianna, Kellie, Tasha and Shontelle, for your dedication to helping lost pets find their way home. ❤️🐾
You are the heart behind every reunion.

The story of Max and never giving up

Max went missing from the backyard of his home on April 3rd, there were some sightings the following day and volunteers and owners went out to search and try and get a sighting. It was obvious that Max was scared and was in flight mode and wouldn’t come to someone when they called.

Multiple sightings came in throughout the next week in different areas and it appeared that he was on the move and wasn’t stopping to find a place to settle. Food and cameras were put out but he always seemed to be 1 step ahead of the team.

He was then sighted April 8th in the area of Marina blvd by multiple people running up peoples driveway and past the fire hall. Volunteers went out to talk with people and try to locate exactly where he was headed.

Tail Trackers then received a call April 14th that Max was seen behind the Peterborough zoo, again Tail Trackers went out with food and cameras to try and lure him so that a humane trap could be placed and hopefully he could be safely secured. Zoo staff and surrounding businesses were accommodating with letting us place traps and cameras around the property so that we could reunite him with his owners.

April 16th Max was spotted on Tail Trackers camera coming for the food that was left out, our plan was to bait and have him keep coming back to his safe spot so that a plan could be put in place to secure him. Max came back April 17th and checked out the trap that had been set with clothing from his owners and some of his toys in hopes that he would smell home and it would lure him in. It was seen on camera Max taking one of his toys, leaving and then he wasn’t seen again. Tail Trackers searched the area for days, checking in bushes, asking staff to check the locks and going up behind Trent searching the woods and knocking on doors and putting up flyers and posters in case he had moved farther that way but no sightings came in and the team was at a loss. Without another sighting we couldn’t move forward with a plan but we did not give up.

Any dog that was posted online that might have resembled Max the team checked to confirm if it was him or not. The team always had Max in the back of their mind something telling them that he was still out there and they weren’t going to give up hope until he was found.
On June 6th a member of the community posted in a Selwyn Facebook group that for the past 2 weeks that had seen a dog that looked kind of like a poodle in the farmers field laying in the tree line and wasn’t sure if it was someones dog. Tail Trackers jumped into action to try and secure this dog not realizing that when he was safely trapped they would come to realize it was Max the dog they had been hoping and praying would resurface.

The Peterbrough Team lead just happened to live less than 2km from where this dog was loose and would go out morning and night baiting the dog and setting up cameras so we could try and contain him. A big thank you to Mann’s Farm for allowing the team to use their land, set out food, cameras and a trap so that the dog could be safely caught. Without community support like this we can’t make these happy stories be possible.

April 11th the team made he decision to set the trap live in hopes that the dog could be safely captured and brought to the Humane Society as no owners had come forward for this dog or mentioned they knew who he belonged too. At 7:06pm the trap went off and the dog was safely secured in the trap. A team member was on sight and immediately went to the trap to cover it with a blanket to make sure the dog wasn’t stressed. Once close to the trap things started to click and the team had a “holy sh*t” moment.. this was Max the dog that has been missing for 10 WEEKS. Arrangments had been made for the dog to spend the night with a temporary foster as the humane society was closed but things changed because this dog had a family.

Max was brought to the fosters home where he was immediately showing affection to the team, almost to say thank you I was ready to come home. The team reached out to the owners asking for them to call us immediately but it was late at night and we had no response.

Come morning Max’s owners reached out early to the team and we were thrilled to let him know that Max had been found and he was safe and alive. For a dog that had been on the run for 10 weeks he was in good condition and only a few ticks that were properly removed. Max was brought to his owners and instantly knew who they were and was greeted with hugs and kisses and tail wags.

This story shows how resilient dogs are, that this team never gives up on a missing pet and that with the help of the community these things are all possible. Tail Trackers is so thankful for everyone who was involved in making this happy reunion possible.

Please do not chase, call out or follow the dog as she is extremely shy and nervous of people.

She was being watched by owners parents and slipped out the door. Pepper does not know the area at all and is very nervous.
