Our annual youth soccer tournament returns to Optimist Soccer Park and Wilson Fields on Saturday, with 56 teams set to take part rain or shine. That means 56 pizzas! More than 500 kids are registered in this year’s program.

Optimists joined Launch Kawartha Executive Director Corey Norman (centre) at Wilson Fields on the evening of June 3 to celebrate the recent delivery of soccer balls for the club’s youth soccer program — U9 action can be seen in the background. The purchase was made possible by a $10,312.11 LEAP (Locally based support, Empowering projects, Access, and Projects) grant in 2025 delivered by Launch Kawartha. The “launch balls” are emblazoned with Launch Kawartha’s logo.

Our youth soccer program, which runs through June, got underway this week at Optimist Soccer Park and Wilson Field. It was a chilly evening on Wednesday!

The club recently donated $500 to the Kawartha Lakers U13 girl’s fastpitch team. Some Optimists joined team coaches and players at Wilson Fields on May 7 to recognize the contribution.

🎨The Annual Juried Student Exhibition is back at Kawartha Art Gallery from May 6 to June 12. A tradition for over 20 years!

The Kawartha Art Gallery's Annual Juried Student Exhibition returns, showcasing the exceptional talent of high school artists from across the region. This year's exhibition features a diverse range of media, exploring themes of landscape, identity, and everyday life. The exhibition provides a valuable platform for young artists to gain recognition and develop their skills.

All are welcome to attend the Awards Presentation Reception on May 16th at 2pm at the Pie Eyed Monk. We invite the community to experience the creativity and innovation of these talented young artists. 🎉

The student artworks were selected by an external juror, with the juror providing constructive comments and suggestions for acknowledging and building on the students’ skill sets. This year we were delighted to work with juror Tracy Heindl!

With our youth soccer program just around the corner, more than a dozen club members gathered at the pavilion at Optimist Soccer Park for our annual ball blow-up on May 4. Soccer gets underway on Monday, May 11 with U7 action at Wilson Field.
