Father’s Day is just around the corner! 💙

With Father’s Day coming up next weekend, I want to shine a light on the incredible work being done right here in our community by the Modern Man Family Project a registered charity dedicated to supporting men, fathers, and families before crisis hits. Through peer mentorship, parenting education, mental health support, and community connection, Modern Man is helping dads stay present, engaged, and strong for their kids. Whether a father is navigating separation, financial stress, or simply feeling isolated, Modern Man shows up with practical help and zero judgment.

What makes their work so critical is the reality we see on Kamloops streets every day. The majority of people experiencing homelessness in our city are men, and our current harm reduction model lacks the recovery and prevention piece that actually helps people rebuild their lives. Modern Man is filling that gap by intervening early, before a man loses everything. When we invest in fathers upstream, we keep families together, reduce the burden on emergency services, and build a healthier community for everyone. As we get ready to celebrate the dads in our lives, let’s also celebrate the organizations making it possible for more dads to find their way back.
