We offer resources for child care providers, educators, community members, and families. A variety of registered programs are also available year round.

Interactive Drop In Centre is open for families with children birth to five, on M, T, W, and F, 9:00-11:30, and for small family childcares Th from 9:00-11:30. Early Years Centre:
For families and care providers with children birth to pre-kindergarten. There are NO FEES to access the Early Years Centre or any related programs and services! Families can enjoy our Interactive Drop- In Centre Mon , Tues, Wed, Fri (9am-11:30am) and borrow items from our lending resource library. Child Care Services:
We link families and child care providers in the communities of Kamloops, Savona, Barriere, Chase, Logan Lake, Clearwater, and Sun Peaks, by offering free consultation, support, and referral services to parents seeking child care. Child care providers are supported though information, outreach, resource library networking and learning opportunities. Our toy and resource lending library is open 8am-4pm Monday through Friday, and 8-12pm on Saturdays, and is a FREE resource for parents and child care providers. There is a wide variety of materials to help parents and educators plan their play and learning times, bring new ideas to their environments, and help children learn and grow in fun, creative ways! Parents can borrow 2 theme bins from the library for 2 weeks, and child care providers/educators can borrow up to 5 bins for 1 month. Toddlers are still learning how to communicate, so their behavior often speaks louder than their words. Between ages 1 and 3, they're learning to express emotions, test boundaries, explore their world, and become more independent. That's why it's completely normal to see:

- Frequent use of the word "no"
- Big reactions to changes in routine
- Tantrums when they're tired, overwhelmed, or can't express what they need
- Clinginess during separation or in new situations
- Defiance as they learn where the boundaries are

These behaviors aren't signs that something is wrong. They're part of healthy brain development.

Parallel play is more social than it looks.

Two toddlers may be side by side, each focused on their own toys, with barely a word between them. But a lot of learning can be happening. They’re watching, imitating, exploring, communicating. And getting more comfortable sharing space with other children.

For early childhood professionals, these everyday moments can offer a window into a child’s social, language, cognitive and motor development.

And an important reminder: stages of play aren’t rigid deadlines. Children may move between different types of play depending on the activity, setting and people around them.
