BCRS recently brought interventional radiologists from across BC together for an IR Billing Workshop focused on improving consistency, sharing expertise and identifying gaps in the current fee guide.
By comparing billing practices across sites, participants began building greater alignment and laying the groundwork for future advocacy to ensure the fee structure better reflects modern interventional radiology practice.
The conversation is continuing, with our next meeting planned virtually for October.

Yesterday, BCRS President Dr. Wan Wan Yap and CEO Amy Smith met with Assistant Deputy Minister Ian Rongve to discuss the sustainability of after-hours radiology services in BC. We're pushing for a solution that reflects how modern radiology is delivered and supports the radiologists who provide this essential care.
We're proud of the work that happens quietly, behind the scenes, at the table with government, Doctors of BC, and health authorities, building solutions and moving things forward for radiologists across BC.
That's what your BCRS membership supports: a strong, consistent voice for radiology in BC. Thank you for your trust. 🙏

BCRS Wishes Minister Osborne Success in Her New Role

BC has a new Minister of Health. Premier David Eby has appointed Ravi Kahlon to the role, while Josie Osborne moves to the Finance portfolio.

A big thank you to Minister Osborne for the strong working relationship we built over the past year, including three in-person meetings where we discussed the real pressures facing radiology and diagnostic imaging across BC. Congratulations on the new role! We look forward to staying connected.

We’re also looking forward to introducing BCRS to Minister Kahlon and continuing the conversation on the issues that matter most to BC radiologists: imaging wait times, equipment funding, fee code updates, workforce shortages, and on-call funding.

New leadership brings new opportunities, and BCRS is ready to keep radiology at the table.

Help Us Put a Face to Radiology in BC
Our "What is a Radiologist?" campaign has been on the move!
We've visited clinics in Kelowna, stopped by Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, and made our way to Nanaimo to sit down with radiologists and hear their stories.

A huge thank you to every radiologist who has shared their time so far. Hearing about their day to day work, their dedication to patients, and their passion for the field has been amazing, and these stories are exactly what will help BC understand how vital radiologists really are.
