🐾❤️ Fire Family Takes Care of Its Own ❤️🐾

Last Sunday, Recruit Class 30 traded the classroom for the trail as they tackled the hike to the top of Mount Boucherie for a team-building exercise ahead of their live fire evaluations at NORD on June 27th and 28th. These recruits are working hard and are well on their way to joining our halls, ready to serve the West Kelowna community.

The day took an unexpected turn on the hike down when Boeser, one of the four-legged members of the team, experienced a medical emergency and needed assistance getting safely off the mountain.

Thanks to the quick actions of those on scene, excellent veterinary care, and lots of love from his family, we're happy to report that Boeser is doing much better!

Last night, members of the West Kelowna Paid on Call Fire Fighters Association stopped by with a care package, some new toys and treats, and of course plenty of ear scratches. Boeser was thrilled to see everyone and let us know he's feeling much more like himself.

Moments like these remind us that being part of the fire service is about more than training and responding to calls—it's about looking after one another through the good times and the challenging ones. Whether you're on two legs or four, you're family.

Please join us in wishing Boeser a continued speedy recovery as Recruit Class 30 prepares for the next step in their firefighting journey! 🐶🚒💙

Happy Tuesday West K!
Thursday we had our annual EGRE carnival. Crews provided a wash station and hose down of the kids who were in the foam pit.
Tonnes of bouncy castles and fun for all.

This week firefighters from Station 34 took part in bike to school week. We escorted students from Helen Gorman Elementary School in the fire truck on their ride to class to ensure everyone’s safety from traffic during the event. We love to support our community and take part in events like this!

A huge THANK YOU to our incredible community for coming out to yesterday’s FireSmart event!

We were thrilled to see such a great turnout and so many families taking the time to learn about wildfire preparedness and fire safety. The smiles on the kids’ faces while spraying water at the hose stations, enjoying freezies, and watching the live burn demonstration made the day extra special!

Events like this are a great reminder that FireSmart starts with community. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, asked questions, participated, and helped make the afternoon such a success.

We also want to recognize all of our dedicated members and volunteers who helped run stations, educate the public, and keep the event fun and engaging for all ages.
Together, we can help keep our community safer and more prepared.
