We are back with a bang 💥

The 2027 Training House Kick-off took place today at 1287 Brechin Place in Aberdeen neighborhood of Kamloops.

We had this year’s carpentry program students, who are currently working on the house, striking a pose with Chris Crowell, our President, this year’ Project Manager- Clayton Cooper of Fulcrum Development Inc., and Bryce Coombs, the TRU instructor for this year’s project.

We had MPs Mel Arnold (Mel Arnold MP ) and Frank Caputo (Frank Caputo ) join the students at the kick-off and have a heart-to-heart with the future of the residential construction industry. Thank you so much for being huge supporters of this community-driven initiative.

The students also got a chance to connect with the city councillors. Thank you to the councillors who took time out of their schedule to attend the kick-off.

It’s kinda chic to start a house with a foundation built for performance and longevity😌

A shoutout to Element ICF for supporting our 2027 Training House Project for yet another year. However, the thank you’s are incomplete without thanking Kamloops Home Hardware and Beaver Thermal Solutions for making this collaboration possible.

Take a walk down the memory lane with us as we revisit all the houses built under the Training House Project. 🥹

The lore- The Training House was created in the 1990s when builders within CHBA Central Interior recognized the need to improve the quality and readiness of skilled trades entering the workforce. They partnered with the Dean of Trades at Thompson Rivers University to develop a hands-on program that would provide students with real-world construction experience.

Are we really just building one house or are we doing our part in strengthening the residential industry by injecting it with skilled workforce? Take a pick. 🤌

Even after 37 years since its conception, every year feels like the start. New students, new industry partners, new techniques but the same ‘ol “giving back to the community”. 🤩🤩
