FLCSES staff and students had literally 48 hours to buy out most of the tickets in the theatre to watch and show up for the weekend showing on October 10. The movie was a must-see for our school. It is a great fit for our Filipino language curriculum showing the filipino culture, language and folklore.

It was unfortunate that we lost an opportunity showcase our school and advocate for Filipino heritage language learning. Due to low box office numbers, DreamWorks Animation had made a decision to discontinue box office screening. We will have to find another fundraiser to support the learning resources project for the schools of FLCSES.

Thank you to all who supported the impromptu movie viewing event.

EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT for the Filipino Heritage Language programs from Red Deer-North region to Northern Alberta region

Masaya naming ibabalita na ang ating mga paaralan sa wikang pamana ng Filipino sa Edmonton, Grande Prairie at High Level, ay opisyal nang pinamamahalaan ng Filipino Language and Culture School of Edmonton Society Authority (A.0202) ngayong ika-1 ng Setyembre sa taong 2026. Nagpapasalamat kami Filipino-Canadian Saranay Association of Alberta -FCSAA sa pagtitiwala sa Board of Directors at mga magulang ng FLCSES sa mga paaralan na malaya na pangasiwaan at pamahalaan ang pinansyal na aspeto ng Kindergarten hanggang Baitaing siyam programa, at sa Alberta Education sa pagtulong sa paglipat ng otoridad upang maituro ang mga kurso sa FIL15, FIL25, FIL35 sa mga magaaral ng Senior High school.

We are excited to announce that our Filipino Heritage language schools are now OFFICIALLY managed by the Filipino Language and Culture School of Edmonton Society Authority (A.0202) on September 1, 2026. We thank FCSAA for entrusting FLCSES Board of Directors and parents of our schools to independently operate and financially manage the Kindergarten to Grade 9 program and to Alberta Education for helping us with the school authority transition for us to continue to offer FIL15, FIL25, FIL 35 to the Senior High school students.
