Pre-Trades Training
for Indigenous, by Indigenous

10/29/2026

It is very special having Elders join our classrooms to share food, knowledge, and the rich teachings of Indigenous culture. We are deeply grateful to Elders Daphne, Arnold, and Irene for offering wisdom and mentorship that will help shape the students perspectives as they build their futures in the trades.

A huge thank you to Eagle Healing for creating these powerful moments and opportunities for students in our pre-trade programs!

Empowering the next generation of women in electrical! ⚡

Huge shoutout to our incredible partner, Dow, who gave a behind the scenes tour of their industrial site.

From exploring advanced tech to hearing firsthand from working electricians, our pre-trades electrical cohort got an introduction to what a day in the life of an industrial electrician looks like.

Always a bright day when our alumni come back to see us. Angel who finished the Residential Construction Program earlier this year, stopped in at the Trade Winds office to catch up and get her blue book signed off. We are cheering you on every step of the way!

Some of our electrical students and alumni from our women’s electrical program last year joined together for a special ribbon skirt and shirt workshop. There is nothing quite like learning traditions and building strong community with our students.

A big thank you to our Student Supports Advisor for organizing and teaching this workshop. Sharing culture, laughter and fun Trade Winds students!

And it would not have been possible without Edmonton Community Foundation whose support has brought what was once an idea, to life. Thank you!

Yesterday we had the pleasure of joining the pre-trade electricians at their graduation at Electrical Industry Training Centre
It was an excellent afternoon full of celebration, support and inspiration for their careers ahead.

A big thank you to our wonderful Elders Arnold and Daphne Alexis for joining this group in celebration, prayer and drum song. And of course a huge thank you to Eagle Healing for supporting these students throughout their journey in the program and now as graduates looking to forge their own path in the trades.

We look forward to watching where this training will take you, congratulations! 👏
