๐ŸŽ‰ A Very Special Night for Our Squadron! ๐ŸŽ‰

On May 26th, a special ceremony was held as Samantha Campbell was formally attested as an officer in the Canadian Armed Forces, joining the Cadet Organizations Administration and Training Service (COATS).

For those unfamiliar, attestation is the official swearing-in ceremony that makes someone a member of the Canadian Armed Forces.

OCdt Campbell has already been a valued member of the 50 LCol Barker VC Squadron staff for the past three years, serving as a dedicated volunteer and Civilian Instructor. Her skills, patience, and consistently positive attitude have made a real difference in the lives of both our cadets and fellow staff.

What makes her decision to join even more meaningful? OCdt Campbell is the proud parent of two cadets in our squadron. In stepping forward to serve as a COATS officer, she beautifully demonstrates that there is no limit to what a parent will do to support their children and in doing so, sheโ€™s also committing to support every cadet in our organization.

Thank you for your continued dedication, OCdt Campbell. We are incredibly proud and fortunate to have you with us!

Welcome to the Canadian Armed Forces. ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Honouring Our Heroes โ€“ One Headstone at a Time

Today, the cadets of 50 LCol Barker VC Squadron rolled up their sleeves and got to work at Riverside Cemetery in Dauphin. Under cloudy skies and light rain, they carefully cleaned and restored veteran headstones in the New Legion section of the cemetery โ€” a powerful reminder that remembrance is an action, not just a word.

What made the day truly special was how the cadets went beyond cleaning. While they worked, they researched the lives of the veterans whose graves they were tending. At the end of the day, they held a moving service where they shared the stories they had uncovered โ€” bringing these heroesโ€™ sacrifices and memories back to life.

Thereโ€™s something deeply inspiring about watching young people connect with the past and show such respect for those who came before us. Days like this build character, gratitude, and a strong sense of duty.

A huge thank you to Mr. Al Gray and Mrs. Shirley Gray, along with all the dedicated volunteers from Friends of Riverside. Your leadership, guidance, and passion made this meaningful day possible.

To our cadets โ€” you did an outstanding job. We are proud of you!

โœˆ๏ธ Leading Air Cadets โœˆ๏ธ

In the Royal Canadian Air Cadets, Leading Air Cadet is the first official promotion a new cadet can achieve. Itโ€™s more than just a rank โ€” itโ€™s official recognition that youโ€™ve shown up, worked hard, and become a committed member of the squadron.

New cadets start as ordinary Air Cadets. After several months of active participation in training, demonstrating reliability and teamwork, they earn the LAC propeller on their uniform. Itโ€™s the first big milestone that says: โ€œIโ€™m serious about this program and Iโ€™m part of the team.โ€

Congratulations to our newest LACโ€™s
