Sound Investment Community Choir

A non-auditioned community choir, in based in Collingwood. Rehearsals are held weekly during the season for its annual Christmas and spring concerts.

For more information, including a history of the choir please visit: soundinvestmentchoir.ca The choir was founded in 1973 by Ann Sneyd, beginning as a as a ladies glee club under the name “Collingwood and Area Welcome Wagon Newcomers’ Club Ladies Glee Club”. In 1974 the official name of "The Sound Investment" was adopted. Men were invited to join in the choir in 1991 when the name once again cha

nged to be "The Sound Investment Community Choir." Ann Sneyd, a local Royal Conservatory music teacher, was involved in music programs in several churches and was the recipient of The Order of Collingwood as well as The Companion of the Order of Collingwood. Ann directed the choir until 2000 and continued as an active choir member until 2015 when she moved from the Collingwood community. The choir has enjoyed the direction of several other talented directors, including Velma Cook (2000 - 2010), Brian Rae (|2010 - 2013), Albert Greer (interim 2013), John Wervers (2014 - 2016) and Aaron Bell (2016 - 2022). The choir repertoire has included a wide variety of music from Bach to the Beatles and everything in between.

We thank everyone who helped make True North such a success and such fun. First of course our great audience, who cheered, clapped and sang-along with us, the Hockey Song and the Log Drivers waltz were definitely hits!

We also thank our music director, Danil Biba, for his skill, patience and attention to detail during rehearsals for our tribute to Canada. We also thank Keiko Yoden-Kuepfer, our long time and talented accompanist, who is such a support to us.

Last but by no means least, our donors and sponsors: Collingwood Today for a great Spotlight article and back up promotion, Theatre Collingwood for online ticket sales and promotion, as well as PeakFm for radio promotion.

We will, once again, be at the Wasaga Beach Seniors Expo on June 24th at the RecPlex. We will perform a short set and also have a booth at the Expo, so drop by and say hello if you plan on being there.

Our spring concert True North, will celebrate our beautiful country with Canadian music and song. Please join us on May 9 at New Life Church in Collingwood. Local musician and singer Sherri Jackson will be our guest artist and will accompany us on some pieces as well as performing solo, we are so pleased she is able to be a part of this concert.

It was an amazing concert last night, thanks to our wonderful audience who packed the hall! Thanks also to our sponsors, our volunteers, our guest artist, Susan Connolly, our accompanist, Keiko Yoden-Kuepfer and of course our talented and patient director Danil who somehow manages to get us to sing better than we ever thought we could!
