🎣 Fly of the week:  Black Ant

✨ If you’re not enjoying the sunshine on Saturday, we hope you’ll join us at the clubhouse (2641 Campbell River Rd) from 10am-noon. The last tying session of the summer is on June 27th, and you won’t want to miss it.

💵 Drop in fees: $5 for non-members and $2 for members

🐜 The black ant is simple, slim, and deadly. Tied with two distinct segments of black fur dubbing and a soft black hackle for legs, it perfectly mimics the real thing, drifting helplessly on the surface. A small fly… but an absolute producer all season long.

🚨 On June 27th, Rob Worrall, a certified fly caster, will be hosting a fly casting clinic at Carihi Secondary School (upper field along Dogwood St).

🎣 Fly of the week: Alevin With Yolk Sac 🐟

✨ Drop in on Saturdays at the clubhouse (2641 Campbell River Rd) from 10am-noon. All are welcome. No experience, no supplies, no problem! The last tying session of the summer is on June 27th, and the next is in September.

💵 Drop in fees: $5 for non-members and $2 for members

The alevin with yolk sac is one of the simplest, most effective early in the season patterns you can tie. It imitates a freshly hatched salmonid fry, still carrying that bright orange yolk sac that trout and char can’t resist. Drift it low and slow in spring and get ready for aggressive takes.

Tiny, vulnerable, and absolutely deadly on the water.

The archery crew will start setup of targets tomorrow (May 22nd) at 9am (until all prep is done).

On Sunday, May 24th, we'll takedown and move back all the targets from the courses, after the last round (likely around 3pm).

We appreciate all those who have already committed and those that show up when they can!

🎣 Fly of the week: Elk Hair Caddis 🦌

The elk hair caddis has been around since 1957, and it was designed by Al Roth. This fly floats high, imitates multiple insects and is incredibly durable. Hollow elk hair gives it buoyancy that will fool trout.

✨ Join us to learn how to tie this fly on Saturday from 10am to noon at the clubhouse (2641 Campbell River Rd). Thinking about becoming a member, come say hi!

Supplies you’ll need
- Hook: Standard dry fly hook (TMC 100), sizes 10-20
- Thread: Tan
- Body: Tan dubbing
- Hackle: Grizzly or ginger
- Wing: Elk hair
