Calgary Region Immigrant Employment Council (CRIEC) is a not-for-profit organization that seeks to effectively and efficiently connect international trained professionals (ITPs) with Calgary employers – moving them toward successful employment outcomes. Our success is due in large measure to our exceptional partners and the stewardship provided by our veteran board of directors.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Adaobi H. Anikwe who was formally called to the Bar of Alberta on Thursday August 13th.

This is a remarkable achievement and testament of her hard work, perseverance, and dedication. Please join us in the comments in congratulating Adaobi, Barrister and Solicitor!

Adaobi was a part of our Path2Practice for Internationally Trained Lawyers (ITLs) program, which supported ITLs in navigating the Canadian legal landscape and secure competitive articling positions here in Calgary.

Together with Bow Valley College, Path2Practice prepares our clients for a career as a nurse, ensuring you are fully employment ready. The program features job readiness training, mentorship, Registered Nurse Pathway to Canadian Practice Bridging Program and opportunities to engage with employers.

Connection is at the heart of building an inclusive and thriving workforce (and the Calgary Stampede is at the heart of Calgary Culture)

Thank you to everyone who joined CRIEC and Centre for Newcomers for our 2026 Pre-Stampede Breakfast. The morning brought together professionals, employers, mentors, mentees, and community leaders to strengthen relationships, exchange ideas, and celebrate the spirit of Calgary ahead of Stampede season.

We're grateful to our attendees, volunteers, staff, and speakers for contributing their time, energy, and enthusiasm.

"When I moved to Calgary in 2023 from my home country, I brought with me over 15 years of international HR experience and a lot of hope. However, like many newcomers, the initial transition was far more challenging than I anticipated.
