Canadian Vision Care is proud to support eye care services in Malawi. 🇲🇼

Through our partnership with Central Hospital in Lilongwe, Malawi, surgical equipment including a surgical microscope and anesthesia machines have been donated to help enhance patient care and surgical capacity.

We extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Ahmed Al-Ghoul and Seema Eye Care for their generous donation and commitment to improving access to vision and healthcare services.

Together, we are helping build sustainable eye care resources and making a difference in communities around the world.

🇬🇾 Making a Difference Through Vision Care in Guyana

In April 2026, our volunteer Optometrists, Opticians, Nurse, and numerous volunteers with a wide range of skills travelled through communities including Kato, Paramakatoi, Mahdia, and Georgetown, helping provide eye care clinics while building meaningful connections with local communities and leaders along the way. During our week of outreach, we attended to nearly 600 people, with almost 400 pairs of glasses provided either on-site or delivered later to those in need.

Experiences like these are a powerful reminder that vision care is about more than eye exams and glasses. It is about building relationships, fostering trust, and working alongside communities to improve quality of life and access to care.

One of the volunteers shared his experience being able to contribute to a Guyana project as his father had done years before--- Throughout the mission, our team was welcomed with remarkable warmth and generosity. The strong partnerships developed over many years between Canadian Vision Care and communities across Guyana continue to make these outreach programs possible and impactful.

What stood out most was seeing firsthand the dedication, planning, and collaboration required to bring eye care services to remote and underserved regions. Every clinic reflects the commitment of volunteers, local healthcare partners, community leaders, donors, and supporters who share a common goal of helping people see clearly and live more independently.
We are grateful to everyone who contributed to the success of this mission and to the communities that welcomed us so warmly.

Together, we continue to expand access to vision care and create lasting impact—one person, one family, and one community at a time.

💙 Thank you for supporting Canadian Vision Care 💙

Thirty years of vision care. Thousands of lives changed.
Featuring Guyana

For more than three decades, Anthony Harychan has been a dedicated member of Canadian Vision Care, providing essential eye care services to the people of Guyana.
Anthony’s journey began in 1993, marking one of the longest individual commitments to international eye care in the country. Over the years, he has witnessed the evolution of Guyana’s healthcare landscape while helping navigate the unique challenges faced by communities with limited access to specialized care.
Through this work, thousands of Guyanese citizens have received vision screenings, prescriptions, and referrals for sight-saving surgery — care that many would not otherwise have access to.
Beyond the clinics, Anthony has built meaningful partnerships with the Guyana Ministry of Health, ensuring that Canadian Vision Care’s work is not simply a short visit, but part of a sustained support system for local communities.

“When I started 30 years ago, the goal was to help.
Today, the goal is to empower.
Seeing the children we helped decades ago now bringing their own children to our clinics is the greatest reward I could ask for.”
– Anthony Harychan

We are grateful for volunteers like Anthony who continue to help restore vision, build partnerships, and strengthen communities.
