Looking for a fun and engaging activity for your little dancer this fall? Devotion Danceworks is offering a variety of 12-week dance classes right here in Lake Chaparral!

Triathlon Reminder – Sunday, August 9, 2026 🚴🏊‍♀️🏃

The 26th Annual MultiSports Canada Triathlon begins at 7:30 a.m. this Sunday.

Please plan ahead, as road closures and traffic delays are expected throughout the morning. Cyclists will be on the roads from approximately 7:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Venue Updates:
• Main parking lot closed Saturday and Sunday (overflow lot remains open)
• The first four stalls in the overflow lot will be designated as accessible parking
• Boathouse and boat launch closed Sunday until the event is complete
• Spectators are welcome
• Concession opens at 1:00 p.m.
• Upstairs washrooms and the skate room will be closed. Portable washrooms and handwashing stations will be available, and the seasonal outdoor washrooms will remain open.
• Third-party food vendors will be on site.

🐝 What's with all the bees? Don't worry, they're just moving! 🐝

If you're visiting the lake over the next day or two, you may notice a large cluster of bees gathered in one of the trees near the park entrance. While it may look alarming, you've actually witnessed something pretty amazing!

This is called a swarm. When a honeybee colony outgrows its home, the queen leaves with thousands of worker bees to search for a new place to live. While scout bees are out looking for a suitable location, the rest of the colony temporarily gathers together in a tree or other sheltered spot.

The good news is that swarming bees are generally much less defensive than bees protecting an established hive. Without a hive, honey stores, or young bees to defend, they are usually focused on protecting the queen and finding a new home. That said, they are still wild bees, so please keep your distance, avoid disturbing the swarm, and if you have a bee allergy, take extra care to avoid the area until the swarm has moved on.

🐝 How long will they bee here?

Usually not long! Bee swarms are simply taking a break while scout bees search for a new home. Most swarms move on within 24–48 hours, although they can occasionally remain for a few days before continuing their journey.

These incredible pollinators play a vital role in our environment, and we're happy to give them a safe place to rest while they continue their search for a new home. We kindly ask that visitors avoid gathering around the tree or attempting to interact with the bees, so they can continue their journey undisturbed.

🚨 COMMUNITY NOTICE – STAFF TRAINING 🚨

The Lake Chaparral Residents Association will be conducting mandatory staff training on Saturday, July 25 and Monday, July 27, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

During these training sessions, the Boathouse and Concession will be closed, and boat rentals and food service will not be available.

This training helps ensure our team is prepared to provide a safe, professional, and enjoyable experience for our community. Staff will review emergency response procedures, customer service expectations, workplace health and safety, Association policies, and participate in hands-on scenario training to prepare for real-life situations at the lake.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue investing in the training and development of our team. These sessions play an important role in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for everyone who visits Lake Chaparral. 💙🌊

Camp Out on the Beach!🏐🌊

Event Start: 7:00PM on Friday, August 14th, 2026

Event End: 10:00AM on Saturday, August 15th, 2026

Join us for one of Lake Chaparral's favorite summer traditions—Camp Out on the Beach!

Bring your family and enjoy a memorable evening under the stars, complete with dinner, a campfire, overnight camping on the beach, and breakfast the following morning.

Registration is required, and spaces are limited to the first 30 families on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registration Details

Cost: $40 per group
Maximum: 6 individuals per family registration
Capacity: First 30 families
Registration Required

The registration fee includes dinner on Friday evening and breakfast on Saturday morning.

Additional event information, including what to bring and the event itinerary, will be provided to registered participants closer to the event.

Dust off your boots and join us for a fun-filled morning of food, music, and family-friendly activities at our annual Lake Chaparral Stampede Breakfast!

From 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, we'll be serving up a delicious Stampede breakfast of pancakes and sausage while the community comes together to celebrate all things western.

There will be plenty to enjoy throughout the morning, including:

🐐 A petting zoo
🎈 Inflatables for the kids
🎨 Face painting and glitter tattoos
🐴 Horse-drawn wagon rides
💃 Line dancing led by Ranchman’s
🎶 Live music by The Accomplice

In partnership between the LCRA and the Chaparral Community Association, this event will feature a free breakfast, live music, inflatables, horse and carriage rides, and more!
