Over the past three years, the Shaw Family Foundation has helped change the trajectory of sport participation for kids across Calgary & Area. Through their long‑term support of KidSport Calgary, 833 kids were able to access registration fee assistance, and another 249 kids received the sports gear they needed to play with confidence through the Calgary Flames Sports Bank.
Thanks to their three‑year grant, KidSport had a reliable stream of funding, the kind of stability that allows us to say “yes” to every qualified family. Sport gives kids the chance to feel like kids, to belong, to grow, and to dream.
We hear stories every day about the difference this support makes. One family shared this moment we’ll never forget:
“With the help of KidSport, Skyler's dream of being on a team and having a sport to call her own became a reality. Her first year her team won every game in the minors except one. They then played in the finals and would take gold, with Skylar making the winning catch in the outfield giving her team last at bat and finishing the game. This is a memory we both have for a lifetime.”
This is what access looks like. This is what opportunity feels like.
