Good food is just the beginning. The Alex Community Food Centre joins a growing list of CFCs nation-wide to provide healthy food in a welcoming environment

We increasingly understand the role good food plays in building physical health and emotional well-being. But many Calgarians struggle every day to put enough food on the table for themselves and their kids. The benefits of eating and sharing healthy food that so many of us take for granted is out of reach for too many Calgarians. The Alex Community Food Centre offers food access, food skills, and

education and engagement programs to low-income community members. Through healthy meals, community kitchens and gardens, education programs for kids, peer support, civic engagement activities, and public education, The Alex Community Food Centre aims to increase physical and mental health and community connections, and engage people in meaningful social change.

We’re proud to join organizations across Canada in endorsing Right To Food’s 2026 pre-budget submission. Together, we’re calling for action to reduce food insecurity and strengthen income supports.

Right To Food’s pre-budget submission outlines 4 actions the federal government can take now:

1️⃣ Set national target for food security
2️⃣ Strengthen income supports
3️⃣ Expand disability benefits
4️⃣ Fund Indigenous food sovereignty
