For the first time ever, in partnership with Harmony Square Brantford, we brought a Silent Disco to Scare in the Square! 🎧🎶🕺

It was pretty cool to see people dancing to their own beat, switching between music channels, and enjoying the experience in their own way. From children to adults, everyone found their groove and lit up the square with their moves.

One of the things we loved most was how inclusive the Silent Disco felt. By giving participants the choice to control their own music and volume, it created a space where people could enjoy the fun in a way that worked best for them. As an organization that values inclusion, it was great to see an activity that could accommodate different sensory preferences and needs.

Thanks to everyone who put on headphones, hit the dance floor, and made our first Silent Disco a success! 👻

🧙‍♀️ No tricks, just treats🍬

We had a ghoulishly good time at Scare in the Square on Saturday, handing out candy and celebrating with our community. It was boo-tiful seeing everyone dressed up, and the square transformed into a Halloween haven filled with costumes, contests, and plenty of spook-tacular fun. 🎃

Thank you to everyone who stopped by Harmony Square. We can’t wait to do it all again next year! 👻

👻 Spooky season is officially here, and our very own Hallo-Queens have been having a blast getting ready for Scare in the Square! Between our spooky lobby makeover, Project Scarecrow, and pumpkin carving, there’s been no shortage of frightfully good fun.

Join us at Harmony Square tomorrow starting at 2 p.m. for trick-or-treating, and plenty of Halloween excitement. Be sure to vote for your favourite storefront on Harmony Square’s page, and don’t forget to judge the scarecrows and pumpkins in person. The competition is fierce, and we’re absolutely here for it! 🍬🏆

See you tomorrow 🎃!

Today on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we had the opportunity to visit Woodland Cultural Centre and spend time learning with Heather George, Executive Director and Chief Curator.

We toured the former residential school, walked the grounds, watched the beautiful dances, visited community tables, explored the vendor market, and took in the history and stories shared throughout the day.

Thank you for creating space to learn, reflect and better understand Indigenous history, honour residential school Survivors, and remember the children who never returned home.

We are grateful for the opportunity to learn about ways to get involved, continue the journey toward reconciliation, and carry these important teachings forward - not just today, but every day.

Every Child Matters 🧡

This morning, we attended the Truth and Reconciliation Day flag raising and were grateful for the opportunity to listen, learn, and reflect on the messages shared.

The ceremony provided an opportunity to honour Survivors, remember those impacted by residential schools, and recognize the strength, resilience, and experiences of Indigenous Peoples.

We all have a role to play in learning from the past, deepening our understanding, and helping build a future rooted in respect and understanding. At Contact Brant, we are committed to continuing that journey alongside our community.

As FASD Awareness month comes to an end, we want to ensure that understanding and awareness don’t end here.

Throughout this month, you’ve heard from our staff, listened to caregivers share their experiences, and seen us out in the community. These stories and connections remind us that supporting individuals with FASD truly takes a community.

Raising awareness is an important step, but creating understanding, inclusion, and support are ongoing efforts. After all, it truly takes a community to make a difference!
