What an amazing two days! 🌟

Last week, our program proudly hosted over 300 attendees from more than 40 First Nations at the Indigenous Youth STEM Summit.

The summit was filled with inspiring moments, thanks to our incredible speakers, event Emcee Eagle Eagle Blackbird, volunteers, tradeshow exhibitors, organizers, teachers, and parents who made it all possible.

We’re grateful to everyone who contributed to an event focused on lighting the way toward rewarding careers in STEM for Indigenous youth.

Take a look at some highlights as students explored exciting pathways in fire and safety, engineering, water and wastewater, housing and infrastructure, environmental science, and more! 🔥💧🏠🌿⚙️

We all need a little help sometimes.

Having someone in your corner who has lived through similar experiences is an advantage. Mentors are superheroes—they inspire, guide, and support us through our journey. And sometimes, they need a reminder of how much they mean to us.

✨ Cheers to the mentors who look like us, who show up, support, and help others thrive in their careers and life. ✨

Tag your superhero mentor in the comments! 🧡

At TYCOP, we are always looking for amazing mentors to connect with First Nations Youth. That’s why we look for mentors who are also Indigenous themselves, so that they can relate to the life experience of our mentees. Our mentors are also required to be experts of, or currently working in, a technical service area such as solid waste management, water treatment plant operations, environmental science, and more. We also aim to elevate female role models and mentors in these areas to demonstrate the importance of women working in STEM careers. If you’re an Indigenous person working in a technical service area in Ontario, consider joining our group of mentors and make a difference in the lives of First Nations youth!

The TYCOP program was built through meaningful collaboration—with ISC GCIndigenous , Fowler Metal Industries, and Six Nations Polytechnic as key partners in making this initiative a success.

Through the work we do, we are empowering First Nations youth, fostering mentorship, and opening doors to exciting STEM careers. TYCOP encourages career choices that create future capacity in areas that are vital to First Nation operations.

Skilled trades are essential to our economy. With a large portion of the workforce retiring, new opportunities are emerging and we need the next generation to step up.

Connect with TYCOP today and start your journey toward a rewarding STEM career.
