RootsCS offers hope to individuals & families in the Region of Peel by helping them to find solutions to improve their health, well-being and quality of life.

Roots Community Services (RootsCS) Inc. a multi-service charitable organization that provides culturally-relevant programs and services to inspire residents in the Region of Peel, primarily from the Black and Caribbean communities, to make positive changes in their lives and within their communities. Our aim is to assist our clients by providing pathways for them to achieve their full potential and assist them in finding solutions to improve their health, well-being and quality of life, and to heal from the trauma that inhibits their lives.

On World Mental Health Day, we recognize this year’s theme, “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change.” It highlights the importance of listening to lived experiences and ensuring different voices have a role in shaping mental health care.

For our Black, African and Caribbean (BAC) communities we serve, that means recognizing cultural experiences, addressing barriers to care and creating safe, culturally-responsive spaces for healing and support.

Through our community-based programs and services, we continue to support mental health and well-being by connecting individuals and families to resources, meaningful conversations and community-centred care.

Black Men Speak Up returns on Wednesday, October 20 at 7:30 p.m. EST with The Relationships We Nurture, an open conversation about the relationships that shape us, support us and help us grow.

Hosted by Fimo Mitchell, this virtual gathering is a safe, brave and affirming space for Black men to speak openly about the connections in their lives — from family and friendships to romantic relationships, community and the relationship we have with ourselves.

On National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, our organization pauses to honor the survivors of residential schools, the children who never returned home, and their families and communities who continue to hold the weight of intergenerational trauma. Everyday we live, work, and organize on the treaty lands and traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, alongside the traditional lands of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee, and Huron Wendat peoples.

Join us in community as we host an Indigenous cultural gathering focused on traditions through music, dance, and storytelling.

From October 1 to December 17, 2026, join us for Pathways Forward: Your Next Chapter in Canada, a virtual 10-week Citizenship & Community Integration Series designed to support you as you prepare for your Canadian citizenship journey.

Build your knowledge and confidence while connecting with information, resources and guidance to help you navigate life in Canada. Sessions will explore Canadian history and government, citizenship rights and responsibilities, settlement supports, digital access to services, mentorship and more.

Whether you’re preparing for your citizenship exam or looking to better understand the resources available to you, this series offers a supportive space to learn, ask questions and plan your next steps.
