758 Argus Royal Canadian Air Cadets

758 Argus Royal Canadian Air Cadets 758 Argus Squadron has been serving the youth of Brampton, Ontario, Canada for over 50 years. The cadet program is open to youth ages 12-18.

758 Squadron was originally formed on the 10th of November 1965. At that time, we had a strength of approximately 30 Cadets and 6 Staff members and was located at the Brampton Armouries on Chapel Street. By 1968 the squadron had increased in numbers to approximately 60 cadets. To be sure, 758 Squadron’s greatest legacy has been our recruitment and retention of ex-cadets as instructors, thereby gua

ranteeing a certain measure of consistency over the years. The squadron now has a strength of 175 cadets, 8 officers and a number of civilian volunteers. The squadron also has many parents involved in supporting the squadron via the sponsoring committee or other means. Since our inception, 758 “Argus” Squadron has continued to provide young men and women in Brampton with a sense of direction and purpose, by providing the opportunity for someone to strive for something better. This year, as in the past, the Squadron sent cadets to various summer training courses within the region, including both the Glider Pilot and Power Pilot Scholarships. Many of our former Cadets have gone on to assume various positions with both the Canadian Military, and those who are actively involved as Cadet Instructors with ours and other Air Cadet Squadrons. Commitment. As a cadet, the work we put forth can only bear its head through commitment and presence. This February, our senior cadets received their commitment recognized through the Air Cadet Service Medal. This medal has been awarded to all of our senior cadets who have shown good conduct and beared their commitment to the program for the past 4 years.

This February, our senior cadets received their commitment recognized through the Air Cadet Service Medal. This past February, our squadron’s senior cadets partook in various activities, lectures, assessments, and training exercises to improve their leadership ability and to select our squadron’s newest leaders. You can’t be festive without the festivities, and that’s a prospect that our cadets know well! This year’s annual holiday party was like no other. Cadets from all backgrounds got the chance to enjoy some lovely activities, from our photo booth to bingo and karaoke, we all got into the holiday season spirit! We all demonstrated our support and camaraderie that day in our activities. We stand by what we can, do what we must, and find time for fun during.

On ne peut pas faire la fête sans festivités, et nos cadets le savent bien! La fête annuelle de cette année était unique en son genre. Des cadets de tous horizons ont pu profiter d’activités sympas, du photomaton au bingo en passant par le karaoké, et nous nous sommes tous mis dans l’ambiance des fêtes! Nous avons tous démontré notre soutien et notre camaraderie ce jour-là à travers nos activités. Nous soutenons ce que nous pouvons, faisons ce que nous devons faire et trouvons le temps de nous amuser.

Spooky season has no reason not to be celebrated here at 758! Between the drill, training and parades, our cadets have the opportunity to find some extra fun in the 758 spooky spirit. Here’s a little throwback to our squadron’s annual Halloween Party! Our cadets got the opportunity to engage in a host of games and a variety of food, courtesy of our Squadron Sponsoring Committee. On guard and enjoyable, we cadets stand by what we must, even if it’s a bit of Halloween fun!

La saison effrayante n’a aucune raison de ne pas être célébrée ici au 758! Entre les exercices, les entraînements et les défilés, nos cadets ont l’occasion de s’amuser davantage dans l’esprit effrayant du 758. Voici un petit retour en arrière sur la fête d’Halloween annuelle de notre escadron! Nos cadets ont eu l’occasion de participer à une multitude de jeux et de déguster une grande variété de plats, grâce à notre comité de parrainage de l’escadron. Vigilants et joyeux, nous, les cadets, restons fidèles à notre devoir, même s’il s’agit d’un peu de plaisir pour Halloween!

Anniversary dates are things that happen once a year. A squadron’s 60th Anniversary of its inception however comes only once. This past Annual Ceremonial Review, our cadets, officers, staff, dignitaries and their families came together to celebrate 60 years of 758. This is the legacy of one of Brampton’s oldest air cadet units, this is the camaraderie we share as a squadron. This is 758.

Per Ardua ad Astra, through adversity and to the stars. The phrase has its roots beginning with the RAF, yet also saw use across the Commonwealth, including in the Royal Canadian Air Cadet Program. All branches have their element, and we find ours written in the sky. This past Sunday, September the 21st, the gliding program had the honour of exposing our cadets from 758, as well as 132 to our element. It is an eye opening experience we encourage every cadet under our wings to take!

Per Ardua ad Astra, à travers l’adversité et vers les étoiles. Cette expression trouve ses origines dans la force aérienne royale, mais elle a également été utilisée dans tout le Commonwealth, y compris dans le programme des Cadets de l’air royale canadienne. Toutes les branches ont leur élément, et le nôtre est inscrit dans le ciel. Excellency and advancement are one of the aims of the air cadet program, all demonstrated in the awards received by our cadets at our Annual Ceremonial Review. Our awarded cadets have since received their plaques on our final parade night of the year to commemorate their efforts! These cadets have shown leadership, potential, and have gone above and beyond their roles in the squadron!
