A powerful evening of dialogue on the future of Canadian democracy 🇨🇦

At our event, Sovereignty at Stake: Online Disinformation and Canadian Democracy, guests heard a keynote address from the Honourable Jason Kenney, followed by an engaging discussion with the Catalyst’s Charles Finlay on the growing impact of the Alberta separatist movement, digital sovereignty, and democratic resilience.

Following the keynote, a panel discussion featuring leading experts Marcus Kolga, Dr. Jennie Phillips, Ph.D, and Dr. Brian McQuinn, moderated by the Catalyst’s Judith Borts, explored the real-world risks facing Canadian democracy — from foreign interference to the spread of misinformation online — while outlining concrete steps to strengthen Canada’s response and resilience.

Earlier this week to celebrate Women’s History Month, we brought together learners, alumni, and partners for a networking reception as part of the Mastercard Emerging Leaders Cyber Initiative (ELCI).

The room was a powerful reflection of the community’s strength and diversity — bringing together learners, alumni, and industry partners to exchange ideas, share perspectives, and build meaningful connections.

More than a gathering, it was a moment to recognize the women shaping the future of cybersecurity and the importance of creating space for that growth.

We kicked off the second cohort of the RBC FinSec Incubator yesterday 🚀

The day started with the Committed Masterclass led by Entrepreneur in Residence Eldon Sprickerhoff, setting the tone with real conversations on what it actually takes to build and scale, from sales and capital to leadership and resilience.

Delivered by the Catalyst in partnership with RBC, the program supports early-stage fintech and emerging tech companies in building with security in mind from day one.

Over the next few months, founders will gain mentorship from industry experts while strengthening their security foundations and preparing for real-world demands in the financial sector.

We were honoured to take part in Eldon Sprickerhoff’s Committed Masterclass, delivered for the first time as part of the Cyber Challenge – Cohort 2 program at the Catalyst.

Drawing on insights from his best-selling book, Committed, Eldon guided participants through a full-day session focused on sharpening go-to-market strategy, defining product-market fit, and navigating the complex realities of building and scaling a cybersecurity company in a VUCA world.
