New Publication based on the research completed in collaboration with ADD*Ed at the Queens University (Kingston, Ontario).

Research team: Haley Clark, Jordan Shurr, Simran Purba, Ekamjot Jaura, and Baljit Ghuman.

Focus: Sikh caregivers perceptions on autism.

Our study underscores the need for cultural competence in educational practices and increased community awareness to foster understanding and improve support for autistic individuals and their caregivers within the Sikh community.

Ontario’s Auditor General released a damning special report finding that provincial special education programs are chronically underfunded and failing to consistently meet the requirements of vulnerable students. The audit highlighted severe staffing shortages, extensive assessment wait times, and a growing financial burden on school boards.

Shoutout to people whose kindness isn't a strategy but a way of life.

Many times we as parents have to build our own small circle of care, if not a village. It is harsh reality of autism caregivers life.

Nobody warned me that a big part of being an autism parent would be silently grieving the village I thought my child would have.

The friendships.
The invitations.
The understanding.
The people who said they cared, but slowly disappeared when things became different or difficult.

You learn to stop expecting inclusion and start celebrating the rare people who truly see your child with kindness and acceptance.

And even through the heartbreak, I will always keep fighting to make sure my child knows they are worthy of love, belonging, and being fully included just as they are.
